30/1/2008 10:22 | Thanks Jeffian,seems a rational explaination to me. | 46pete
30/1/2008 10:12 | I'd have thought it was quite simple, really. There's an indicative offer on the table at 350 in a market that's suffering a major credit/finance squeeze so a) the firm bid may not arrive at all or b) not at the indicated level and in the meantime c) the counter-bidder has dropped out leaving Montagu in a non-competitive situation. The maximum upside as I write is 14.75%. The downside, if the bid fails, is probably around 35%. Current price seems a strightforward reflection of risk/reward to me. Regards, Ian | jeffian
30/1/2008 07:35 | It defies any rational thinking a bit like some women!! | 46pete
29/1/2008 22:14 | Forgive my greenness, but should this be behaving like this? I mean I understood that one of the potential offers had the backing of the banks at 350 and the board said they were favourable to any such offer over 350. I understand the GE offer is more hot air, but I thought Montague was about as solid as it gets. My love/hate relationship with biffa looks set to continue, I mean is it me? But this has to win the award for most bizarre price action over the last year. | ideal420
29/1/2008 17:29 | Not much improvement there then. | 46pete
28/1/2008 17:50 | I am holding with that belief, but if it drops much lower Im bailing out while still in profit!! | 46pete
28/1/2008 16:47 | ps just to clarify, I live in hope of deal going through at right price of course. | peterz
28/1/2008 16:30 | 2.2m shares and its down, seems a lack of belief in deal going through right now. I live in hope, quality company whatever the situation. | peterz
25/1/2008 15:44 | that little wobble shows what happens when rumours about it being called off take hold. | markie7
25/1/2008 09:14 | just sold these at small loss. there seems to be enough uncertainty around not to push this up over 340p. One slip on the bid negotiations; and its all off, and this is 250p again in the blink of an eye. The bid seems complex to me, and it seems to be taking a long time. It certainly isn't going over 350p; so the upside at the moment is only 25p max, with maybe 75p downside. I may well be wrong, and good luck if you are holding - I'd rather take the cash back and look around for other stocks which have less risk / higher yield etc. | markie7
25/1/2008 08:39 | Article in Mail today explaining withdrawal of one party interest in buying. And Co would put to share holders any confirmed offer of £3.50. hmm | peterz
24/1/2008 17:22 | thats good news | peterz
24/1/2008 14:33 | Credit Suisee now ups stake to 5%.. | mitzis
24/1/2008 11:22 | Confidence appears to be falling because of uncertainty. After all, the deal may not go through. The only significant news, recently, is todays announcement that one of the parties is NOT interested. The investment risk is higher! | johne1
24/1/2008 10:21 | being shorted heavily they think no bid is going to come | jon123
24/1/2008 09:48 | Same share action today something wrong..? | mitzis
24/1/2008 07:13 | "Montagu Private Equity LLP continues to be interested in pursuing a cash offer for Biffa...... The Board has received notification that Hg Pooled Management Limited ('Hg') no longer wishes to pursue making an offer for Biffa....." The latter may be part of the reason for the share price slip. There is still no certainty that a deal will be done. | johne1
23/1/2008 23:42 | We should know thursday, given the dows rally biff should follow. If it doesn't, something might be amiss, but with at least two interested groups I would be surprised........ But, I keep getting surprised lately :) | ideal420
23/1/2008 19:00 | 46pete, totally agree, it is disappointing, perhaps someone has a sniff of news or knowledge od acceptance price or worse... | peterz

21/1/2008 21:16 | Biffa, certainly a stock to remember for a lifetime! The highs and lows have been at times frustrating and confusing. But not now, finally some sense. £4 seems reasonable. | ideal420
