28/12/2011 16:22 | Trending on Twitter now and on Sky News who say that Betfair face a £2mm payout. Looks like Betfair have put themselves between a rock and a hard place. Dont pay and they will loose 000's of customers, if they pay its a huge cost for a c0ck up. | brownie69

28/12/2011 12:33 | what is betfair doing buying shares!? - it should be looking to continue investing in the business and looking into acquisitions like 888 to reverse its poker and casino declines ;) | guidfarr

14/10/2011 14:24 | Broker Panmure Gordon is upbeat about prospects for the online gaming sector, and has highlighted five e-gaming shares that it rates as a 'buy'. Panmure noted that e-gaming shares have underperformed the market during the past 12 months, yet they have strong balance sheets, earnings are growing and the sector is moving towards operating in a regulated and taxed framework. | lucky_punter
30/9/2011 23:08 | I suppose it's best to sit on the fence, in all respects, as far as Betfair are concerned; as it will be they who must prove beyond reasonable doubt that what they say is correct in a Court of Law. Whatever the reason, taking money from an account without prior notification and agreement is very worrying for account holders ... | noirua
30/9/2011 12:23 | Someone bought some shares in Betfair today....ahhhh ...it was Betfair buying its own junk back. They would be better off buying another company ...waste of share holders funds..... | hedgebetter
25/9/2011 16:44 | By Alistair Osborne 23 Sep 2011 Betfair 'removed £52,000 from customer's account' A Betfair punter is threatening legal action against the betting exchange after a dispute over more than £52,000 that he claims has been removed from his account. | looby loo
19/9/2011 12:32 | Go on Betfair, keep buying those shares back.....I just cant wait to short this one again! | lennonsalive
16/9/2011 20:22 | Betfair are buying their own shares back..volume is exceedingly poor. Liquidity is not great. This has been the worst IPO of the last two years - even Ocado shines like a beacon in comparison. | hedgebetter
15/9/2011 15:35 | seems to have went quiet here, 25% rise over the past couple of weeks | ricartonl
11/9/2011 17:46 | Yep...shocker...stil | hedgebetter
07/9/2011 07:58 | Oh dear - pony results. Good to see that even with the buyback they have been paying too much. Terrible investment. | bonio10000
07/9/2011 00:11 | I feel sorry for anyone who bought it the IPO. The price was crazy. The buyback is holding the price and it wouldn't surprise me to see them extend it when the £50m is spend. Betfair's reputation is in tatters and until it is rebuilt they are going to go nowhere. | e-venturer
06/9/2011 22:02 | Bozzy i do think that the buyback will prove to be money ill spent. that said, buying a low PE company does not definitively mean you are creating value and buying a high pe company does not mean you are destroying value. it depends upon what the respective companies are worth. | zaksab
06/9/2011 21:30 | Bozzy, I agree, some companies just don't seem to get it. It thought they listed as they wanted some money to invest in expanding the business, now I realise that the original owners just wanted to cash in on their investment. I wonder is the share price rise driven by Betfair buying back its own shares? Wyle | wylecoyote
06/9/2011 15:19 | Seems incredible they are buying back their own shares at a price where P/E ratio is 30. Such a massive waste of cash. Surely the idea of buybacks is to buy stock when the share is undervalued? So that would be from around 250p downwards for these? If they are desperate to spend money, why not take over any company on the stock market which trades at below P/E 10? Of which there are hundreds. | bozzy_s |
