Recently went in to a local Belhaven run pub, middle of the afternoon, no-one in. Stood around for 5-6 mins waiting on a bartender to turn up, asked for a pint of Belhaven Best, she went to pour it and the barrel ran out. "I'll just go and change the barrel, OK I thought, soon she returned to tell me there would not be any available until the next day as they had run out, quite remarkable !
When I get around to sending off the complaint to Belhaven, will update on their response here, hoping for a few beers off them anyway !!

Had an interesting situation last week, I currently hold several thousand and went to place an online order to sell 1000, the trade was not accepted and when I rang my broker I was told that despite the fact that the NMS for the stock is 2500 the MMS were only allowing automated sell trades of up to 100 shares!

I am still holding a good chunk of this stock and am happy to do so but was made a little uneasy by this as they were still allowing automated buys of up to 2500. My order was processed manually with my broker without difficulty but left me wondering what was happening.
I guess that my previous post of waiting for £5 proved to be a touch optimistic and while I like these for the long term they are not an actively traded stock and as such I will perhaps look to increase my exposure if they head back to the 440 range.

How far can Belhaven continue without being swallowed up by a larger firm, it would not surprise me.
Anyone heard of the new beer which was to be launched, was it Belhaven Gold ?

Started noticing these a short time ago and was thinking of coming in (better late than never!)

Just a question of deciding whether the Director's sells will cause a temporary hickup in the price (and for how long and how much) b4 the shares continue on their path.

directors sold over half a million quid of shares from exercising their options.

Both directors continue to hold a good part of their company, so I think the exercise is entirely understandable. Explains the recent share price drops, and perhaps now we can see a recovery towards £5.

The share is not a steal at £5 so I can also see that as a point to top slice (this won't affect the price!); but IMO a very good share for general or cautious managed institutional funds (and one's pension) - the managers can pretty well buy it and forget it IMO.

Isn't that a problem? No beer available down south. Should they be testing the water, maybe in the North of England to keep transport costs down?

Well, I am still looking for £5 at which point I will probably reduce my holding as I doubled up about 9 months ago.

Agree superb results, yet the price is only up - someone selling 9000 shares. Perhaps a director or some top slicing; cannot believe there will not be renewed interest after 'profits up 30% and new year started well and contract with Carlsberg'!

Added (or tried to add) to my holding to become overweight until the share price reflects a bit more of the reality - 14 years of unbroken growth. Almost unparalleled!!

One day soon I really want to make the trip to Scotland to taste the products, too. Perhaps we should try to organise a shareholder brewery visit sometime? Any intered parties??

Dont know much about their products as I'm not a beer drinker but have held the share for some time now as I appreciate the company's other qualities, namely its excellent financial performance.
The stock does seem to have been range bound for a while now so I am hoping that these excellent results coupled with the positive forward looking news will allow these to test the £5 mark in the not too distant future.

Yet another good set of results.Does anyone know what happened to the new beer they were looking to bring out but couldn't decide a name for it. I was served it up to me by mistake in a Bellhaven pub some time ago and it was the best beer I've ever tasted, and nothing. I know they were considering calling it Gold. So what happened?

Chutes,

Tuesday and Thursday nights are my Belhaven Best nights.

Belhaven is good news for Dunbar and East Lothian and anyone that drinks it!

"Jeff Myers (Managing Director - Pubs Division) exercised 15,151 approved options
in the Belhaven Group plc at a price of 198p per share on 13 January and on that
date sold these shares at a price of #4.03 per share.

His shareholding after this transaction remains 5,101 shares (0.01%)."

Explains some selling. Personally think a director should hold more than £20k in his company; but given he didn't hold shares at 350p either, I don't get an impression of any timing or that the decision to sell means anything about the future. At all. It seems likely JM considers share options as just a bonus...

Another fan here - though investment tucked up for long term in ISA and, as with eshaw, I don't follow it that closely. Perhaps that's why there is nothing much happening on this board!

I suggest that the rise may be due to the reports from other pubs and brewers that been coming in this week - generally happy note so all the pub shares have rising together.
Like edmundshaw, I am also a fan, tho' perhaps not quite so optimistic!

Probably just big investors churning their portfolios.

Undervalued share with 13 year growth track record that managed the rights issue without pausing for breath or dropping earnings growth.

PE low, NAV huge... safe long term hold IMO with no noticeable downside, and can probably defer CGT until retirement if need be!

Not my biggest riser short term, but I hardly have to look at this one more than twice a year.

In case you can't work it out tell I'm a fan...
