Appointment of new Group Chief Executive

BBA Aviation plc today announces that Mark Johnstone, currently President and Chief Operating Officer of the Group's Engine Repair & Overhaul division ("ERO") will join the Board as Group Chief Executive on 1 April 2018. He will be based in Orlando, Florida.

Mark Johnstone joined BBA Aviation in March 2008 as Corporate Development Director and has held a number of roles within the Group including Chief Financial Officer Signature Flight Support; Managing Director of the APPH business (sold by the Group in 2014); and Managing Director of the EMEA Flight Support business (at that time incorporating both Signature and ASIG) before being appointed President and COO of the ERO business in June 2016.

This appointment follows a comprehensive internal and external search process. Wayne Edmunds will step down from his role as Interim Group Chief Executive on 1 April and will remain on the Board as a non-executive director.

Commenting on the appointment BBA Aviation Chairman Sir Nigel Rudd said,

Although a member of the Board, Wayne Edmunds will not be regarded as an independent director and will not be a member of Board Committees. He will hand over the Group Chief Executive responsibilities and support Mark in his induction as he takes on the role.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton, Mark joined the Corporate Finance department of Deloitte & Touche and then spent four years as a Director at IFG Capital Ltd. Before joining BBA Mark spent almost six years at GKN plc in various finance and corporate development roles.
