Hmmm - just back from trip to Scotland, things look a bit gloomy. Results not so hot, disposal of Fibreweb stalling, CEO goes..... Luckily I didn't add at 295p and I'm not sure what to do now.... The good thing is that a sucessful disposal and an exciting new CEO could get things moving again quickly.

The Investors Chronic was neutral on Friday ("fairly priced" at 280p). I think I'll hold.

Well, I've now got an emphatic answer to my query last week about a 'goofball' from the company and/or its advisers.

Roy Mc Glone is a pleasant and capable man but clearly now takes responsibility for the recent management fiasco. I still like the avaition side, and there may well be more value around in the future. In the short term though the risks look high and today's price action says a lot of disappointment exists. Will a hostile bidder be tempted?

agreed,

looking at these closely, could be a 10% short term trade available on these.

however the threat to demerge could be a last attempt to squeeze a better offer out of the bidders? And would a demerger be such a bad deal - it would probably put both parts of the company in play. Given that the imminent results are going to be reasonable, a price of 295p looks good value to me. I am considering adding. good luck all

Bit disappointing that most of the interest was from Private Equity outfits (by definition buy-it-cheap-sell-it-dear!). Perhaps Greg Hutchings, trying to relive his Tomkins glory-days via Lupus Capital, ought to have a look at it. That would kill two of my going-nowhere birds with one stone!

8-)

Today's press leak(s) had the 'ring of truth' and were obviously fed directly from BBA or its PR Advisers. Somehow the Senior Management/ Financial Advisers/ Brokers/ PR Advisers, individually or collectively, have managed to make a monumental ' Goofball ' over the last 3 months.

Defend yourselves guys , if you can......

US interest rates expected to rise again - that could lift the dollar, which should be good news. But I agree with denpot - fibreweb sale is critical. They must get a good price.

Hi networker

No connection with the cargo investigations, this company handles general aviation (private/vip flights etc).

Regards.

I believe Panmure downgraded today, but have no details. Also, sentiment can't be helped by the recently announced cargo investigations, which may or may not have any direct relevance to BBA. Certainly the chart looks awful currently and turnover has been high at over 7m traded so far today. 300p ought to be a support level but no guarantees in this sort of market.

The falls seemed to start towards the end of last week when the US announced that its huge external deficit had got even more huge! With fibreweb sold, most of BBAs earnings will be in US dollars, so they will translate into less pounds if the dollar collapses. Just a thought. I'm holding anyway.

If fibreweb is sold for £800 million...what are the BBA group going to buy? they are concentrating on the aviation side any ideas?

Believe they also said as their target of 330 was reached they downgraded it to hold. Strange how the sheep effect takes place, now looks oversold to me, bought a few more today on the dip.

ABN Amro apparently issued a broker review recently which indicated that their current expectations for the value of any demerger/sale of the fibre side were less bullish than the market. Whether this ( or general market sentiment ) has led to the price coming back to the 320p level is unclear. The case for demerger leading to a re-evaluation of the shares still appears intact.

Today's price action is no surprise to me. This share has gone nowhere since Bob Quarta decided some years ago to leave and go into private equity as he saw better personal gains and prospects there than in BBA. Momentum is clearly now in evidence and this has a lot further to go as and when the demerger plans become reality.

Of the 7 Million traded, 6 Million were two 3 Million trades, looks like 3 Million sold at 329.2352, 3 Million bought at 330.2264, very encouraging to see this amount absorbed!

I see today's move as being significant. It comes with volume of over 7m, which is large by recent standards for BBA. More to come over the short/medium-term and if it carries on like this even the traders may become interested.
