WAR IN THE FOREX COMMUNITY as Baydonhill, the AIM-listed Knightsbridge currency provider, has poached Mark Harris, Travelex's top salesman and his team. It's a blow to Travelex as Harris's unit was responsible for for the lion's share of its corporate forex business.

Why the switch? It looks like private equity is to blame -- Harris says its owner, Apax, has moved the culture of the place "from being client-focused to one that stifles talent". Ouch.

so when does a joint venture become a takeover?

see post 8

Morgans General Insurance Services, part of the Morgans Group, has entered into a joint venture with financial services provider Baydonhill, to take over its overseas property insurance arm.

Its existing book provides Morgans with a springboard to expand its insurance activities in the second home and overseas holiday rental property sector, specifically in mainland Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean and Dubai
