Neilrich....what do you see happening in the housing market?I got out of it to live on a boat and rices have been zooming away. Will I get a chance to re-enter the market at some point do you think?

"But while the FTSE may have plunged, one of the upsides of lower share prices is that dividend yields have leapt up on many of these shares."

Don't disagree, I'm the biggest bear here, for instance the UK Housing market is toast! However I don't believe that this is the end, the UK government/ Central Bank shall step up to the mark as they did last time, in the US too.

BARC did reach 55p last time, but were not there for long, they did require a bail out, although not from the UK Government.

Like I said in my previous post, I'm not suggesting that this is the bottom, but these shares are already cheap when you consider the past 5 years.

It shall be interesting to hear what comes out of the results!!

"Share prices are falling but the UK banks now have the reserves they need to function as a bank. It is the people who make money through the stock exchange causing all the problems. "

I remember 8 years ago Barc trading as low as 55p intra day !!! So £1.50 or under cannot be discounted.

Oh dear oh dear

Here we are again,, "It is way too cheap", "bad new is already in"..I thought this was cheap at 2.00.. LOL

Yes, we can all close our eyes to the rest of the world and hope for a swell ride.Once again the jaded but unbowed financial and economic establishment are in stupid denial.

The establishment has made every effort to hide the fundamentals from the public through far reaching misrepresentations of economic stats. Therefore one need to absorb the reality that the global economy is indeed witnessing a vast crisis scenario and acknowledges real numbers over fraudulent numbers...as a result it is impossible to find out what is the true valuations..What is cheap?.. Nothing is cheap until Dow gets smack down to 9000..

I'd agree, these are too cheap, any bad news is already priced in.

Not saying that these won't go any lower, but looking at the five year graph it seems silly not to buy at these levels.

Not sure Alphorn as the mkts can stay irrational for a long time. I'd say don't fight the trend and certainly don't go big with leverage.
The big bucks are made with the early turns but who is brave enough to plough in?
