Just done my year end accounts and my shares are entirely flat for the year. So i beat the ftse100 but for all that effort, stress, time invested and grief, I earned diddly-squat!

Happy New Year to all BARC holders, i hope you've all done better than me!

Online retailers enjoy record festive figures as experts warn high street operators without decent websites will be ‘under the cosh’: A surge in internet shopping boosted festive sales figures for online retailers, but traditional high street names could suffer.

How do I know that? From the queue in the branches.
Always busy, always a long queue with 3 or 4 cashiers.

Where does this all end......why are customers absolved of all resposibility when making investment decisions?
Perhaps I should consider compensation from Barclays because their share price has fallen causing me a financial loss?

FINRA said that from January 2010 to June 2015, Barclays' inadequate supervisory procedures failed to stop many customers from swapping one mutual fund for another when the benefits of switching might be undermined by the transaction costs.

This caused $8.63 million of harm to customers, most of whom were not warned of such costs, the regulator said.

Barclays

As Barclays’ third chief executive in the space of three years, Jes Staley could be forgiven for thinking that his time at the bank may be limited. But after the caretaker manager that was Antony Jenkins, the Boston-born Staley has a mandate to really shape the bank in his image. Contrary to some commentary at the time of his recruitment by chairman John McFarlane that his arrival would mean Barclays boosting its investment bank, what it means is that Barclays will keep its wide-ranging remit, with a focus on retail, corporate and investment banking. But what Staley will do is make those divisions work harder, and smarter. The reining in of Barclays’ global ambition will continue, as Staley focuses on growing profits and doing what Barclays is good at. That is not to say he will not face headwinds, not least the likely conclusion of the Serious Fraud Office’s investigation into its Qatar share sale at the height of the financial crisis. But investors could do worse than to back Barclays in 2016.

It's amazing watching all the traders winding down their positions before the 4 day weekend !! The spreads increase steadily as as more and more traders exit the 'casino' :)This is an important observation, which basically demonstrates that the markets only move because players play them. If no one played the game, there would be no liquidity, and there would be no game. Liquidity drives all financial markets. Merry Christmas
