No..apart from it went ex divi last week and always drops around this time of year? Annoying though. Brexit worries too I guess. People wanted to get their divi then sold. Hopefully bounce back above 5 by July.

Or as a better alternative, we could stop doling out money to British people who don't want to work.

A girl came to our office saying that she was on benefit and asking whether we had any part time jobs available. We needed somebody to do odds and ends so we gave her a job doing filing for 3 hours a day at £10 an hour and it soon became clear that she was brilliantly clever (far more intelligent than me).

I realised that she was keen to work and if she worked with me for a few months, she would be able to take over my job and I would be able to retire so I suggested it to her.

Her answer was 'I only want to work 15 hours a week or it will effect my benefit'!

How about we stop blowing £12bn per year on pointless foreign aid, and spend it on rebuilding our Navy(and proving jobs for British engineers/workforce)

Trouble on the Clyde?

Workers at BAE Systems' shipyards on the Clyde have vowed to do whatever it takes to avoid further job cuts, after learning of delays to contracts for the next generation of Royal Navy frigates.
The warning came after shop stewards met to discuss briefings by the firm.
They are informing the workforce of their determination to fight any compulsory job losses.
They say the problem comes from slower release of Ministry of Defence (MoD) funding for Type 26 warships.

Thanks for the reply and kind words. I looked at your web site yesterday and was particularly interested in some of the names involved in your Engineering and compliance side of the project. I used to work at BAE Chadderton and was introduced to the Vulcan and Lancaster support projects via some Nimrod work I was doing, I think the chief engineer responsible for the link between BAE and the "Vulcan to the Sky" project had a very difficult task, but one that I would have loved to have been involved with full time. I have since retired but do pick up a contract every now and then with them. Its a nice project you have but I am afraid not for me now. I wish you luck and am sad its not in the UK. I will follow your project with interest. Regards
RW

Minor point but the assessment that the EEL is "much faster than a bullet" is not true for small arms munitions.
An M855 from an M4 has a muzzle velocity of 2,970 ft/s (910 m/s), but that is reduced to 2,522 ft/s (769 m/s) by 150 meters.
(Mach 1 at sea level being about 330m/s)
Even the heaviest 7.62mm has a muzzle velocity beyond mach2.

Don't think it would catch an ICBM though!

Having been involved in arranging for the Vulcan to gain its CAA licence, why do you believe the UK are not suportative of your project. Have you contacted any of the heritage organisations? I also have experience of the Victor, Nimrod and VC10 heritage issues.

I like the shiny one at Cosford. Curious that it had such a lack of camouflage - not exactly a stealth design.

Global Defence spending rising...

The World Has Started Spending More on Weapons
This article by Benjamin D Katz for Bloomberg may be of interest to subscribers. Here is a section:

Global military spending has begun rising in real terms for the first time since the U.S. began its withdrawal of troops from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

Defence budgets rose 1 percent to $1.68 trillion in 2015, making up about 2.3 percent of the world’s gross domestic product, Sipri said in a report Tuesday. While the U.S. spent the most at $596 billion, that was down 2.4 percent compared with 2014, while China’s outlay increased 7.4 percent to $215 billion.

Concern about a possible advance by Russia into North Atlantic Treaty Organization territory following the Crimea invasion and hostilities in east Ukraine led to a surge in spending in Eastern Europe, as Chinese ambitions in the South China Sea spurred arms purchases among Southeast Asian states.

Eoin Treacy's view
During times of economic expansion there doesn’t tend to be much in the way of mischief making in terms of geopolitics. However when expansions come under pressure from overheating or commodity prices dropping the potential for countries to try making up for lost ground through adventurism increases. Russia’s actions in Ukraine, the Caucasus and Syria offer useful examples as does China’s increasingly assertive posturing in the South China Sea.

Looks like the UK Hawk availability deal has helped to support the share price above £5.

I'm amazed the deal has not had a decent effect on the share price It's a really big deal in many ways.
