AZ is a very good long term hold Rob.
Goldman has them at 440 and a buy.

Rob - treat any AZEM trade as a new one - dont let what you have paid for them in the past affect your assessment goign forwards - each trade should be viewed on its merits - who knows, you may get 289 but is it better to buy at a low £3 and get the next step up?

Could see that pressure forming in the price action over the last few days.
Sure sign was Ex Divi never moved .

I think I've missed the boat, will have to look for pastures new.

At least my Barc has powered through the 200p (bought those in Jan '10 at 288p, another great investment) At least my AZEM were sold at a profit, just that it's £2500 less than if I sold today. Ho Hum

My only hope to buy back in below my sell price of 295p less 6p for lost div and stamp duty = 289p is to hope AZ does what it did in June '11, when it nearly got to 340p and then dropped until Sept '11.

Rob this has changed its spots in the past few weeks it now has buying pressure to the upside.
Ex Divi and still going up say no more.

HH I stupidly sold all mine on 6th of Aug at 295p (since then they've been as high as 312 + the div)

I've got a really low buy back, but if they hit 227p then something is really wrong so I shouldn't buy back(rock and hard place comes to mind)

Tech stocks in the States are doing well and a bit of a carry over on consideration of the results.

I partly agree Rob - If a takeover target is a competitor, then margin erosion ir protected - if it is a current suppliuer, they can get the parts better priced and develop the technology the way they want it - Im thinking it will be complimentary a takeover and I think it will add more value to the share price - if aas you say, they dont pay top dollar.

Interesting about acquisitions, only fly in the ointment is how they pay for them, if they want to pay down debt and if they can't buy with new shares then they will have to come to the shareholders for a rights issue????????????????

Not necessarily a bad thing but it will depend what they buy and what they pay, directors can get carried away with the price when it's not their money
