An interesting de-posting. No mention of health problems, alternative opportunity or other mitigating factors.

If the rumours were ever true, the inability of a certain person to continue to ensure her position marks a gigantic shift in power.

You could be about to get more thaan you ever expected John. Atta boy Bazin

CCNP.You sound like an insider. If the cull is coming then its not a moment to soon.Should have come 3 years back.I've already booked my car hire for the summer but for future reference tell me who you know and I'll go direct to them next time.

and if it was that easy, we could all do it. look at the business model (franchise/debt laundering) and the changing market. If their rates are so uncompletitive, why do they survive ? The €33 as a percentage of group turnover is so derisory they should leave your money in the bank even at 5%.

So what is it that makes the profit so low but keeps the company afloat?

your requested cull is coming sooner than you think. If you know anyone there, you would know it has already started.

Oh and car hire is free but taxable as a perk unless you do soem business (perhaps attend a meeting ?). 40% of rack rate is a decent hire rate. And you don't pay anything for CDW extras etc. In fact, what you do is book a group a mini and get a merc if you know the right people.

CCNP.I'm sure you don't need me to advise you to read page 35 on the Annual Report 2007.Yes overall,Directors salaries were down on 2006, but I'd still be happy with a salary of £458,669 (down from 651,468), or even £287,182 (down from £429,808).And, as for the £1,063 051 final salary paid to one Executive and the £216,141 paid to a Non Executive!
This company is top heavy with Executives and Non Executives and it needs to be culled.Combined wage bill for all Executives £2,535,864, which is roughly £200,000 down on previous year. These salaries are not justified when you think profits before tax were only 33.2m Euro.
Finally, go on the web and compare its hire rental prices with some of its competitors.Avis seem unable to compete, and I'm going by personal experience here!

Don't waste your time with this stock.Only guys getting rich are the Directors themselves.A good example of a company rewarding under performance.

This is a stock I've held for a number of years. Not only has the S/P been eroded but have you ever tried hiring a car through the shareholder perk's scheme? Not only do they limit the size of car you can hire (try getting a compact, but I've never had an upgrade on a car I have hired.Same old story, 'We don't have one available'.To rub it in further,by the time you have taken out damage waiver excess, the price is the same as or more than other Car Hire firms. This company don't know the meaning of management.Take the time I tried to return one of their cars only to find the office closed while those of other Car Hire firms next door were open. And yes, it was a Bank holiday. The Board of Directors have done nothing but feather their own beds over the last few years and it's time we voted some of these guys out.Chairman & Chief Executive to go first. All those in favour, say Aye!

All these nil cost option business is a lot of Bull...Directors who perform and deliver should be awarded...those who fail the options goes out of the window...no ifs and buts...about time the whole concept of PLC pay remuneration get structured in the favour of the shareholder and not the buffoon that runs the PLC...and as for the Golden handshake...that should be empty handed without pension...

This share has gone down and down and down and down. Why are the Management not being sacked, with all their bonuses forfeited, and replaced with people who know what they are doing?
