30/4/2015 11:33 | Here is another more comprehensive link although it states the value of the contract at $4 million, not $4.5million. Note. This is only stage 1 of the contract, hospitals to be connected up in stage 2. | yupawiese2010
30/4/2015 11:26 | It's probably over a few years. Not a big deal but every little helps and these things tend to increase in size over time as other state departments see the benefits. | sg31
30/4/2015 11:11 | Looks healthy, but do we know when the cash comes to the company? | jadeticl3
30/4/2015 09:47 | Tanzanian school contract win, value $4.5 million. | yupawiese2010
23/4/2015 17:33 | This reads very well--the main user across the whole country. Does anyone ever have an idea of what this contract is really worth to AVN? No big share price change, in an already seriously depressed share, indicates that either, like me the world has no idea, or that it does know and concludes it is not a big deal. However, it is better than losing the contract, one assumes | jadeticl3
23/4/2015 17:17 | Contract extension. | yupawiese2010
15/4/2015 15:50 | Thats quite high volume for today | gekks
30/3/2015 18:34 | Sat systems are extremely expensive, but as you say are stable platforms after the initial risk of launching into orbit and commissioning. Drones are still fairly new and my guess is that they will only be used in areas where there is still a relatively high population from a cost effective point of view, i.e. why bother covering an area with a density of less than e.g. 1per/sq km. That being said, they are undoubtedly massively cheaper than satellites and are becoming more widely used in many environments. | 2vdm
30/3/2015 10:22 | It is incomprehensible to me that drones can possibly be the way forward. Satellites provide a stable platform for 15 years or more whilst these drones seem to flap around for a few months at a time. There must also be issues of vulnerability and, if adopted on a widespread basis, regulation. I know they are well above the airspace of commercial airliners but if the plan is to put a lot up there, there will have to be some control and regulation. Why not just use the sat systems that exist? | jeffian
30/3/2015 08:55 | This topic has been discussed on this site in the recent past. The article you put forward is not news. | jadeticl3
27/3/2015 09:39 | Interesting. Chris, if you edit 'hxxp' to 'hTTp' it'll form a link. | jeffian
26/3/2015 20:24 | This week's big story for Avanti (and others) hxxp://www.satnews.c | chriscallen
04/3/2015 16:02 | Shame. It looked so promising a few days ago. I was hoping to break even before I retire or die . . . whichever comes soonest! John | 2350220
26/2/2015 23:21 | i remember pre launch H2 and share price forcasts of 12 pounds a share. 6.50 believe it when i see it! | divinausa1
25/2/2015 10:32 | Apparently Jefferies have issued a research note today saying that with HYLAS 4 DCF included, Avanti is worth 650p per share | bigkahunaburger
23/2/2015 18:50 | Take a look at the FT article from last week caleld "US Wireless: After the spectrum rush" The US government raised $44.9bn selling spectrum, and the article says demand for spectrum will exceed supply in the US by 2019. Charlie Ergen (who bought Ka band satellite company Hughes - the US equivalent of Avanti - a couple of years ago) has now stockpiled spectrum worth apparently $50bn. It cant be long before that spectrum story starts to play out in EMEA. | bigkahunaburger
15/2/2015 20:28 | Write up in IC this week. Takeaway appears to be trading of premium to ISAT, although AVN 'should' offer more future growth.. | bulltradept
12/2/2015 13:57 | Dificult to remain convinced by Avanti, we just get the same jam tomorrow everytime. then more dilution, which makes end game eps less attractive. Just feels like they given us all they've got. | mega_trader
09/2/2015 20:03 | Rural Satellite services have been tendered out over the last couple of years. The bad news is that AVN didn't get Exmoor but they did get equivalent projects in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The documentation implies the satellite element of each contract area is worth about £450K | chriscallen
09/2/2015 09:59 | People in parts of rural Britain will shortly be able to browse an internet service which has been delivered to their homes by satellite. Ed Vaisey, the junior Culture minister, said homes in Exmoor which are hard to reach for conventional wires will be able to use internet which is routed through satellites. The news comes after MPs said Britain risks becoming a "two-tier society” because some homes were not able to connect to the internet.” – Daily Telegraph Any chance that this could be of benefit to Avant? | standish11
07/2/2015 13:30 | Not so long ago you were pushing everyone to buy Avanti and I warned against it because the price had surged too high. Now I'm pointing out that if you don't get in at these prices, you will miss the opportunity of a rewarding investment. Hylas is a state of the art fleet, way ahead of the game and it's last two financial reports have shown it to be well managed and heading for substantial profit. | estienne |
