05/1/2015 12:05 | "It all hinges on costs." Glad you are coming around to this as this will affect AVN some day. | bulltradept
05/1/2015 00:07 | But until we know comparitive costs we have no idea whether drones are a threat or not! The fact that it may be feasible is irrelevant. It all hinges on costs. | jadeticl3
03/1/2015 21:53 | "How many serious players - ISP's, mobile phone operators, Governments, the military etc - are going to entrust their services to drones which fly around for a few days? There simply is no comparison." It all depends on how reliable is reliable is reliable. If something can function at a fraction of the cost but need replacing every year, then the costs out weigh any perceived issues. Anyway AVN isn't yet going to have this competition, but it will some day, think about it logically, it's going to happen. | bulltradept
29/12/2014 23:37 | Cost is not the issue. A sat provides a stable moveable beam with a life of at least 15 years. It is secure. It is reliable. How many serious players - ISP's, mobile phone operators, Governments, the military etc - are going to entrust their services to drones which fly around for a few days? There simply is no comparison. A carrier pigeon would be cheaper still. Maybe we should worry about that too. | jeffian
29/12/2014 23:04 | Obviously not yet Jeffian, but look at the costs of that to a Sat. | bulltradept
27/12/2014 21:45 | tip in the telegraph | weatherman
24/12/2014 10:56 | The shorters must be desperate to bring that one up again. | sg31
24/12/2014 09:45 | You are joking, I assume? | jeffian
24/12/2014 08:58 | Check out Zephur: AVN could well be up staged before it's had a chance to really take off. | bulltradept
12/12/2014 16:49 | More on Paul walsh's potential F1 job here | aa29
12/12/2014 16:19 | Another depressing day on AIM (Make that depressing year) | gekks
09/12/2014 15:58 | I used to work for a multinational company and often rumours circulated, both positive and negative. The company had a policy of never commenting on such rumours. Only if an authorised body asked a direct question did the company respond. You cannot pick and choose either your policy is to never respond or you are found out. | jadeticl3
09/12/2014 12:32 | I doubt the company would respond to rumours. | sg31
09/12/2014 11:29 | the company would have to state if there is no truth in the rumor. So I'm taking it the rumor is true.... | divinausa1
05/12/2014 20:28 | the derampers will call it a dead cat bounce and soon to resume towards 1p, the rampers will call it a pause on the way to 750p! the more rational of us will call it market dynamics. | chrissey
05/12/2014 15:03 | Welcome upturn today. Not sure why but maybe shorters closing some of their positions before close of play? | standish11
05/12/2014 12:15 | Yes I saw that. No idea if it was true. It was mentioned in post 3505 on this ADVFN board | sg31
05/12/2014 12:02 | I believe the greatest irony in this is that TW's company RSH went into administration and lost all of its investors money. But have you seen the rumours currently circulating around a Wordpress article that seems to suggest that there was more than just bad business management to this ? It does seem to suggest that TW was, ahem, investing his shareholders money in a manner not consistent with their best interests, shall we say... | bigkahunaburger
04/12/2014 18:10 | Interesting but if the broker is not putting his name to it how do we know that he's not pushing the share price down for his own benefit? | chriscallen
04/12/2014 11:54 | He probably doesn't spend too many hours at AVN per month. He's more a figurehead and contacts man than anything. | sg31
04/12/2014 11:21 | "He" being Paul Walsh but, as I said above, it is not uncommon for someone to hold several Chairman/Directorshi | jeffian |
