24/4/2011 12:00 | Analysts at Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS - news) said the double-digit rise in IDOL should help to alleviate the market's concerns about Automony's ability to grow. Mohammed Moswells, an analyst at Goldman, said in a note: "Given the strong start to the year and correspondingly strong commit/backlog metrics, consensus expectations continue to look very conservative to us," However, another analyst, who declined to be named for fear of recriminations from Autonomy, said: "Autonomy may have beaten analyst targets by $4m, but I suspect that is largely because they have counted a lot of big deals in the first quarter, rather than the second." Paul Morland, an analyst at Peel Hunt, raised concerns about Autonomy's decision to release its numbers at 12,30pm rather than the normal release time of 7am. In the past Autonomy's shares have had a tendency to fall heavily in morning trading only to recover later in the day when US analysts, who are generally more favourable towards the company, analyse the results. Autonomy said its decision to release the figures in the afternoon was due to "scheduling conflicts" and not related to the company's historical trading pattern. | malctheraider
23/4/2011 20:22 | MalctheRaider "12.30 funny time to announce results, maybe hoping everybody in the city has gone home for Easter break. Looks good for my short." Don't you love when the exact opposite happens to what you predicted? | inphoman

22/4/2011 01:35 | I can't see much wrong with Autonomy's results. Normally when numbers are released, analysts wade in with worries about cash conversion. But this time I don't think they can. Nice one Au. | dasv

21/4/2011 13:04 | Depends on what's said now, but having held Autonomy for years and seen the share price crash on apparently good results, I expect the worst. | tr65
21/4/2011 13:02 | True, but the results look pretty good, especially considering some of the negative analysts' comments we've seen over the past few months. | alan@bj
21/4/2011 12:58 | That'll be why it didn't continue to £20! | tr65
