`David Williams has put together a number of successful deals such as Augean, Zetar and Inspicio. He says the best model is where potential targets are identified first and a management team with expertise in that specific sector is put together second.

"You would be surprised at the number of deals around," says Williams. "The problem is getting good quality companies to join your shell. The deciding factor can be if the target company's founders see that a management team has the expertise to help it develop its business."`

Also -
The number of cash shells joining AIM has dropped by around one third since March when 31 rushed to get a listing, with many soaring to enormous first-day premiums of 500 per cent or more. These high premiums to net assets are in part a reflection of the reputations of the key movers at the business, such as prominent shellmeisters Leo Knifton, David Williams, Stephen Dean, Paul Davis and Richard Armstrong.

This is from 5 years ago though.

Praipus, what do you think of this rise just before suspension?

Something definitely seems to be afloat. Otherwise there would not be this share price rise and buying. Normally share prices plunge on the last day of trading before suspension. Has anyone got any take on this.

I think that we will take suspension, it will allow the board to negotiate without having to inform the world what they are doing. Hopefully they can get hold of something worthwhile.

Nobody left? Three days left before suspension? This has been a nice bonus; I wonder if news will boost the share price even higher?

Thanks backwoodsman interesting background, dont worry about the spelling I dont, though probably should have. Agreed exciting plenty of volatility. Startups statistically have terrible failure rates but if its possible to enjoy a spot of rump volatility why not?

The silver angle would be a logical step and was hinted at in some of the RNS.

Priapus (sorry, is it your typo or mine?) I'm too in the dark to have gambled and bought some new shares - just got my tiny rump which I have seen double in value. I could see this happening as a possibility, though. The key is what business will appear. DXR has over £2m cash and control was taken by a fund manager who is promising to invest in silver; it started off with a power struggle for the cash shell and took months to pan out - great sport. VMP hss virtually no cash but the prospects are exciting having been acquired by a group of city guys who are setting up a corporate rescue/consultancy business; market cap over £600k.
You can certainly be sure of volatility if nothing else!

Got the cash and sold the share's so I'm out. I don't know enough about RTO's to stay but I'm watching with great interest as adds a whole new angle to the liquidations and arbitrage situations I'm following. Hence my question about the cost of setting up an AIM listed PLC.

Other possible liquidations leading to cash shells...

I guess there is at least a VAT saving for anyone setting up a company before the new year.

`A type of merger used by private companies to become publicly traded without resorting to an initial public offering. Initially, the private company buys enough shares to control a publicly traded company. The private company's shareholder then uses their shares in the private company to exchange for shares in the public company. At this point, the private company has effectively become a publicly traded one`.
