I bought 50k AUL yesterday @ 10.5pps which was the closing bid. The closing offer on SLE was 9.05 which is AUL 11.76pps equivalent....or effectively puts me into SLE at sub 8pps ! A 12% discount for doing nothing..crazy !

Someone is going to make a killing in the swap over to SLE shares buying AUL at 10.25. Should be trading near 12p here.

So merger a cert now on the25th of Jan. The equiverllent AUL price is 11.5p

The hearing of the petition to the Court to sanction the Scheme and to confirm the related Reduction of Capital is expected to take place on 24 January 2013. Subject to the Court sanctioning the Scheme and the satisfaction of the Conditions, it is expected that the Scheme will become effective on 25 January 2013 (the "Effective Date").

Is the the 25th or the 8th of Feb it comes active on accounts and tradable?

I'm still holding....my 100k shares will be converted to 130k SLE shares if this goes through.

The combined abilities of these to Co's can only be a positive in my book.

added as gap is closed, 10 is a round number and is crossed, vol is increasing and as share price will imho go up if there is no deal. if the deal is done we will go up after the funds boots are full imho. funds will need performance and this can be upgraded easily next year.

fundamentals are ok for a very long term investor (free cash back from operations). the machinery behind this one (sle)will get things done

Well then. Do what I do and make a note of the names of the directors and put them on your own personal investment blacklist. I refer to this blacklist whenever I am thinking of buying shares in a new company. If any of these blacklisted names turn up on the board of said company, even in a non-exec position, I decide not to buy shares in it...

Actually I should choose my words more carefully - its not the merger thats the problem - its the price at which the merger was agreed that is the problem.

The Directors of AUL have in my view agreed a price which is way too low given the considerable amount of cash reserves AUL has. Cash is King at the moment and there aren't too many banks willing to just give 60 million quid to small exploration companies right now.

In my view the Directors could easily have negotiated a much higher price and should have done so.

Well Naithani - if any white knight is going to appear they'd better get their skates on. Aren't AUL off to Court tomorrow seeking permission for this misguided and ill-judged merger?

AUL were breaking 12p before the deal was announced. Im sure we would be nearer 20p if the deal wasnt on. However so much potential with shale we should be multiples of this share price.

I for one will be voting against - SLE share price slipping all the time - this bad deal just keeps getting worse. The Directors have abdicated their responsibilities towards AUL shareholders and have effectively given the company away. This "merger" is not for me.

I am hoping that 3rd party jump in the battle to control aul...it is really exciting prospect I am dreaming. If aul is attractive, I am sure there will be some other company which wont let it go so cheap..

I wonder why AUL directors took fright sat on the cash and did nothing,A large gas discovery?
Its true, so tech problems in peeling off water.Sle have the tech team to deal with this issue and no doubt we will be reading soon about flow rates ,etc,
SLE have acquired a bargain,Once the merger takes place SLE will motor, 2013 i hope and anticipate will be the year of JV and farm in agreements .SLE ,no doubt will build its cash position and work /programs with decent free carried interest.
SLE is now the second largest owner of land in Europe.Large Big cap companies must be knocking on their door, 3 Legs should have thrown in the towel long ago and merged with SLE.Its very hard to predict SLE share price next year. It will no doubt crawl to 20p thereafter with results etc . 50/60 pence ?.The Tosca guys will be expecting these prices so will George.I will be voting for the merger.
