Clouds over China’s solar power industry China is by far the world’s biggest producer of solar panels, but the industry could become a victim of its own success. LONDON, 10 August, 2015 – The recent turmoil in China’s stock market has sent shockwaves through the country’s corporate sector, including its mighty solar power industry which in recent years has grown to dominate the world market. Harnessing solar energy is considered a key way of cutting back on fossil fuel use and of meeting the challenge posed by climate change. Seven out of the world’s top ten manufacturers of solar panels are China-based companies, together providing about 40% of global solar supplies. But now the industry’s future expansion is under threat as companies try to cope with too much production capacity, very low profit margins and crushing amounts of debt. hxxp://www.climatenewsnetwork.net/clouds-over-chinas-solar-power-industry/euclid5

No I hadn't seen it. Makes no difference to me in any case. A takeover is STILL a likely outcome but that's not the reason I hold. It does explain the spike though :)andysand

Actually I think trading on margin is what causes these spikes. When the share price naturally pulls back, the margin sellers have to get out quick to avoid instant losses. It's a mugs game. Buy the shares because they are great value, then wait!andysand

Went to far too fast. Gentle rises are better and more likely to sustain. Jittery investors just couldn't resist the sell button for a quick gain.andysand

Auhua Clean Energy (ACE) Rose 20% on $50M Dollar Takeover RumoursAuhua Clean Energy was a major riser today with intense buying after rumours emerged of its main shareholder and backer Rowsley Limited is having to fend off suitors as Chinese multi nationals target Auhua Clean Energy.Talk in China is Auhua’s technology which is deemed as best in class as well as being officially recommended by China’s Building Materials,Auhua Clean Energy, the specialist split-unit solar water heater system products group based in the Shandong province of China, has reported that trading for the first half year has been in line with expectations. It has also announced further milestones including the establishment and implementation of industry standards for the split-unit solar water heater industry in Shandong, which Auhua has been a key adviser to.The Company has signed memorandums of understanding with four large conglomerates for use of Auhua's split-unit solar water heaters for their property projects. The Company has also been awarded the "Official Recommended Building and Engineering Product" by the Building Materials Department from the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardisation.Auhua is currently the only official recommended supplier of split-unit solar water heaters in the whole of China.Department,http://www.auhuacleanenergy.com/files/media/Auhua%20Clean%20Energy%20Company%20Update%2003.09.2012.pdfAnd this has attracted a number of suitors including, Suntech who are one of China’s first solar energy companies and is now the world’s largest silicon solar panel producer. The company has grown quickly since its establishment in September 2001 and now has a presence in 80 countries worldwide and a dynamic research and development team spread across five countries. One of the company’s key milestones was winning a contract to supply the solar panels for the revolutionary Bird’s Nest 2008 Olympics Arena in Beijing – a 130 kW solar installation. The business has also successfully penetrated the western market by establishing its first U.S. factory in Arizona on January 2010.Suntech’s technology now ranks among the best in the world after attaining a photovoltaic conversion efficiency of 19% for mono crystalline solar cells and 17% for polycrystalline photovoltaic cells in 2009 and attained the 2 GW (gigawatt) mark in 2011.Also in the frame is Sharp Solar a subsidiary business of the Japanese electronics giant, Sharp. The company has been developing solar power solutions for more than 50 years and has secured a large consumer base and is well trusted in the industry.Sharp Solar was the first of all solar energy companies to achieve 2 GW of solar cells. They have repeatedly broken world records for solar cell conversion efficiency achieving 14.4% for polycrystalline photovoltaic module in 2008 and 35.8% for triple junctionandysand

A takeover is inevitable with a share price this low in my opinion.http://www.smallcapnetwork.com/Auhua-Clean-Energy-ACE-Rose-20-on-50M-Dollar-Takeover-Rumours/s/via/49745/article/view/p/mid/1/id/1/#.VdwYn0FVSAc.twitterandysand

JSI is the better prospect. Paying dividends as much as 50% of the share price if profits are as good as last year and there is no reason why they will not be. Have JSI and IRG in my ISA.johndee

it can't be too long before there is some consolidation among these beaten down shares. I am convinced we will wake up one morning to a take over rns propelling the share price 600% in one go. But which day?andysand

TW has clouded the issue here and at JSI. Held both for a while and still hold JSI in an ISA.johndee

A more specific question would help. Yes they are Chinese.Having read through their original prospectus, they need 3 million from their IPO in order to fund expansion into UAE. They only got 1. The recent fund raising had to happen...I think w h Ireland were incredibly greedy to have demanded such a massive discount. On the other hand, their greed has enabled to buy a company with a p/e of 1(!) and a NAV of 27p per share. It deserves a p/e of 6 without doubt. So target is 18-20p.andysand

This price is most likely a floor. A bounce of the floor is usually quite spectacular and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 30% happen in a matter of minutes.andysand

Just done my research in this. Thank you Sharescope for finding it! There is absolutely no question that it will be taken over. It's a no brainer. I would buy it myself if I had the money! Even it were just for asset stripping, it is a ten bagger. Andyandysand
