This shareholder will need an awful lot of backing to get the delisting through.

Hard to say. There's very little information to go on at the moment. All that's going to happen today is damage to the share price (already showing well down). It's just for a meeting, not actually delisting.

The effective short has now gone as the directors buy the stake. They do continue to buy shares,a good sign.

Just a quick question. Anyone have info on the directors holdings here? At £7M the c/v of this co seems on the low side. Appears to be ridiculous Any summary of the position here? Just to save me some time on research.

Issuing a new update every 4 weeks is a bit extreme.
I was going to take a stake until they engaged in that recent fundraising, I felt rather less happy that they seemed to need more cash given how well the business is supposed to be going.
I still have them on my monitor but wont do anything until the new year.

Should be much higher on this news. I sometimes wonder what people want to hear but this really is looking very good for Atlantic.

Quite an interesting company, are there any potential up coming news events?

When do they have to start paying the debt back?

Agreed Molatov, I've just posted to keep some sensible balance to the posts, many of which are very errr excitable. Just looking at a P/E ratio is a very very dangerous way to value this IMO. You've already had one heavily discounted placing and these positive sounding updates from small mining companies are so very often followed by more dilution.

Howay Eezzyyy keep it realistic....a lot can happen in 10 years ! LOL!

That is such a ridiculous comment, in fact, you should not be let loose with shares quite frankly...coal prices could rocket, the company could expand its activities, merge, be bought out. Any number of positive events can occur.

As I said earlier "Pre exceptionals and after interest H1 profit was c. £950k".

Sounds like they'll do a bit better in the 2nd half so maybe £2.25m?

They have about £16m debt and I read yesterday that mine has a 10 year mine life based on current reserves. So they would need to keep performing well for almost the entire mine life just to pay off the debt. Given the history you'd have to at least question whether that will happen IMO.

The share price might go anywhere. The price of coal might go through the roof. Mining ops might just get better and better. They might find some big beautiful new sites to mine etc....but for now this is hardly the no-brainer so might be suggesting IMO.

I wish you good luck but can't help thinking that another placing could be on the way...

The really good news is the rising coal price. We are not told from what level but it is going up and that is what is important.

hxxp://www.worldcoal.com/mining/01102015/Atlantic-Coal-anthracite-sales-jump-in-3Q15-2939/

Pennsylvania anthracite producer, Atlantic Coal, has reported a dramatic increase in coal sales and ROM production in the nine months to September 2015, setting the company up for a successful year as its goes into the peak demand period for its product.

Sales were up 65% to 186 186 short t compared to 112 831 short t over the same period last year, while ROM production jumped by over 50% to 365 985 short t.

"I am pleased to report an excellent production and sales performance during 3Q15, said Steve Best, Atlanic Coal's Managing Director. "This is particularly pleasing when viewed against the very challenging market conditions for commodities, in particular for thermal and metallurgical coals, the prices of which have plunged dramatically." In contrast, Atlantic Coal is planning on raising its prices for all of its products by US$10/short t.

The company is also set to take advantage of favourable geological conditions to help it maintain its high production levels.

"We are […] very near to reaching the bottom of the coal basin in the current cut and, according to indications from old underground mine maps, we are due to enter the almost solid 30 ft thick Mammoth seam, which will further assist in maintaining our high production levels,” said company managing director, Steve Best.

The historic Pennsylvania anthracite industry is experiencing something of a revival in recent time with fellow miner, Blaschak Coal, also announcing plans to expand production in response to strong demand.

And with the next quarter seeing the start of the industrial and domestic heating season – when demand for anthracite peaks – Atlantic Coal is positive for the remainder of the year: “For the first time going into the winter, we have a very healthy inventory of clean coal which means that we have the confidence to supply our traditional customer base and also to go out and seek new customers," said Best.

“We therefore look forward with confidence to the final quarter of 2015 and the directors are confident that the financial performance of the company for the remainder of H2 will match the results reported in H1."

Uncannily good? Selling 85m before a placing is bordering on criminal dealings I would say. Other companies may well be making heavy losses, however, they haven't got our BOD in charge!!!!

I remember someone stating this was a steal at 1.5, at which point I attempted to counsel caution ... there's a sense of deja-vous.

Be wary of any director selling, they have historically been uncannily good at timing their exit points.
