Trouble is pe is still over 20 and growth may have stalled for years. UK has enormous debt to service and with confidence undermined we are likely to see austerity returning just when we thought government was spending money it hadn't got.

As most people that have appeared on here don't seem to know anything about asc or much else, a takeover is unlikely as it is owned 26% by Bestseller its largest shareholder so would probably need their permission for any takeover.

This is how the discounting has been encouraged, but NOT by the retailers.
You're allowed to have a page up saying discount codes for ASOS.
But there are no discount codes shown.

BUT there are lots of links to retailers for other deals.
Every one of these links wipes out anyone else's cookie, so the voucher code site gets the commission.

So as far as I know, if you click on the link that says free delivery above £25, the site will get commission from ASOS, even though they've done nothing apart from publicise what anyone at the ASOS site or checkout would know anyway.

It all started years ago with saying there was a discount code, when there wasn't.
Now they've been told off and have changed to a mixture of free delivery, sales etc. 'promotions'.

But the discount-training damage has been done.

Oh and by the way, the guy who started that site off and presided over it while it was putting up signs about discount codes that didn't exist, became a multi-millionaire on the back of it.

All hail the wonderful opportunities of the internet !

Be careful if you're planning to short, or are short, ASOS. Such a drop can easily bring about a 12-20% whipsaw bounce.

I assume the three day rule is that they nearly always continue to fall after a shock rns - especially if funds are forced to sell as their stop losses are triggered

Retail expert just been on sky news and pointed out that he believes the asc problem/s are purely down to all retailers "educating" their customers over a period of years that basically just wait for us to discount and then buy (ie Black Friday etc) hence hitting margins - nothing whatsoever to do with brexit concerns (" I am not buying a dress for the office christmas party because of brexit" ) doesn't figure in people's reasons but "a deal" well that is another story
