17/12/2018 10:22 | tomboyb Well the worst part of it all was that at the start the voucher code sites put up pages with 'show (retailer) discount code' links, when the retailer had no discount code, or had never ever issued one. As a result visitors clicked on it and everyone else's cookies were overwritten. The affiliate networks took no action and neither did the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), other than asking the sites 'nicely' not to do encourage clicks where no code was present. Unfortunately VC and cashback sites started to deliver such high sales volumes that the retailers became scared of axing them, as another retailer might benefit. | yump | |
