13/10/2016 11:48 | Morning bracke, Sorry for my poorly written post, have edited it, to make it a little clearer what I was trying to say. I can,t understand your phobia with Speedy Hire. Cheers | 2flatpack
13/10/2016 11:17 | Good day 2flat You are the second person this week to use the 'S' word. Please desist it upsets the natives. The share price continues to defy the market direction but is being resisted at 1350. Surely having fought back from 1180 it will at least attempt an all time high and maybe 1400. | bracke
13/10/2016 09:52 | Cheers James I've just been reading activist investors are targeting British firms . Since June the amount of money invested by them has risen from about £2 billion peaking in Sept. at £3.8 billion. Speedy Hire appears to be one. . I also read, when looking long term at a take over, they often begin with a shorting campaign . We (AHT) have already had the shorting campaign. Makes you think? AHT must look very attractive. Cheers | 2flatpack
13/10/2016 09:11 | 2flatpack The 5 year 50% plan was mentioned in the last results update but I don't think before that. | james97
13/10/2016 08:59 | Morning allemaal Can anyone ,off the top of their head tell me if this 5 year 50% plan is new, as I cannot remember it.( old age me thinks),or is it an expansion. Cheers | 2flatpack

13/10/2016 08:27 | Ashtead Group plc is holding a seminar for analysts and investors in London this afternoon. This seminar will focus on the Group's North American business, Sunbelt Rentals, and our five year plan to increase our location footprint by circa 50% by 2021. We will also identify those elements of the market that we believe have the greatest structural and cyclical opportunity and how this continues to influence our growth plans. The seminar will also include the following update on current trading: Both divisions have continued to perform well in the second quarter of the current financial year and we expect first half results to be in line with our expectations. | fenners66
12/10/2016 10:52 | He's probably recommending it as a hedge against AHT. The share price held up well yesterday considering the market volatility but I thought it disappointing that it didn't have the good grace to fill the gap down at 1308. | bracke
12/10/2016 09:45 | Do you think that the Deutsche analyst is recommending today's Deutsche bank bond issue to his clients.... | fenners66
11/10/2016 12:27 | So far to-day FTSE has risen and £ dropped but AHT is following S&P and DOW, both of which are just under yesterdays close as I type. | bracke
11/10/2016 12:19 | Bracke... I consider myself admonished, and Ian, I think that might not be a daft strategy | lairddavid
11/10/2016 12:16 | Good day ian I suspect LAIRD was seeking a more analytical approach but failing that your's is as good as any other. | bracke
11/10/2016 11:06 | Good morning bracke, I think that we can be a little more helpful to LAIRD. There is a view that when the Deutsche Bank analyst who keeps reiterating 'sell 710' (most recently 27/09/16) turns bullish, and comes in with a 'buy' recommendation, that would be the time to consider shorting if you are so inclined! (lol!) . | ianwwwhite
11/10/2016 10:32 | Good day LAIRD Such a brazen question with no consideration for the sensibilities of the s/holders. If you'r going to ask such inflammatory questions you must allude to it such as ' it's looking cloudy when do you think it will rain'. Thus you avoid upsetting the 'chosen ones' who are already looking towards 1500 and trying to decide whether it will be a Bentley or a Yacht. | bracke
10/10/2016 21:17 | When do we start shorting? | lairddavid
10/10/2016 15:44 | Good day fenners It may drop back for a retest but looking at the price action of AHT, FTSE and the £ fall, it may just carry on up to test the previous high achieved on 07 September at 1375. It's had a good run up from 1180 and to my eye is looking 'stretched'. It's way above the Daily SMA 200 and some distance above the Daily SMA 100 and SMA 50. Following a large rise it does tend to put in a largish retrace. I am thinking at least back to the SMA 50 at 1250. | bracke
10/10/2016 15:33 | Stifel raises price target on this boring share from from 1450 to 1550; rating buy. Cheers | 2flatpack
10/10/2016 15:21 | Your 1340 target achieved , now a retest Bracke? | fenners66
07/10/2016 11:25 | A gap up this morning thanks to the falling £ and resting on the 76% fib. We now await the NFP. | bracke
06/10/2016 14:55 | Is it me or has the pound dropped about five percent in the last few days which will have a huge positive effect on earnings here but share price has hardly moved? | csmwssk12hu
06/10/2016 14:23 | Sorry for those affected , but it looks like hurricane Mathew will be bringing more work Sunbelts way. | fenners66
05/10/2016 13:59 | Probability of "boring" - Zero. | bracke
05/10/2016 13:30 | I prefer boring. Cheers | 2flatpack
05/10/2016 10:56 | Although 1300 failed to support look on the bright side; yesterdays gap was filled. What next? The US indices have been falling in anticipation of an interest rate increase. Friday's Non Farm Payroll data should settle the matter but the FED may yet again find a reason to avoid an increase. The UK indices rise on the weakness of the £ and AHT benefits from its weakness. Volatile times ahead. | bracke
04/10/2016 16:29 | Thanks bracke, always good to hear your views. Can't help feeling that markets are generally indulging in a bit of over exuberance, and the Deutsche Bank issues which were so much dictating market sentiment last week have yet to be resolved, so a general retrace would not be entirely unexpected imho. Interesting times, as always! | ianwwwhite |
