21/7/2016 10:00 | Todays rise takes the share price above the last major swing high of 1155 reached on 17/12/15. The probability is for a retrace back to test 1155. | bracke

20/7/2016 17:32 | Thank you. | deadcatbounce
20/7/2016 11:36 | Yes. It will be interesting to see how long the coil continues for. The buybacks help to limit the probability of the share price dropping very far. | bracke
19/7/2016 19:10 | bracke, Could the break be in either direction? | deadcatbounce
19/7/2016 11:16 | Dipped below £11 but immediately bought up to continue the 'coil'. The longer the coil the bigger the break. | bracke
17/7/2016 09:26 | Hi Laird-if you were looking at the same article- the recommendation was to look at earning upgrades- i assumed htis meant looking at eps - but that also a forecast- if anyone knows please explain | ali47fish
17/7/2016 08:05 | If you are around Fingersxxd, could you give us your latest thoughts..Thanks | lairddavid
15/7/2016 11:11 | Peel Hunt reiterates buy and increases target from 1250 to 1350.How can Deutsche be so wrong, mind you that said I read yesterday that analysts forecasts are wrong 40% of the time (personally think it's more!), let's hope PH and the majority are in the 60% correct bracket!.DD | discodave4
14/7/2016 19:27 | dcarn/brackeDon't know if there is a limit of £11 on the buyback. On the 30th June they only bought about 69k @ 1048, the highest price paid was only 1050.Perhaps it's the 105% spread limit on the buyback that was the limit rather than £11?.DD | discodave4
14/7/2016 18:05 | It's interesting that Tuesday and Wednesday the share price stayed reasonably well above £11 and the volume both days was approx 1.3 million. Today the share price dropped below £11 and in came the volume to take it back above £11 for a day total volume of 2.1 million. I posted previously that 1090 was first resistance to the 'South' and that appears the situation. So some want to hold above £11 but AHT does not want to buy above £11....need to think about that one. | bracke
14/7/2016 17:29 | As things stand it appears as if they may have a ceiling of £11 on buy back shares. That was the highest price they paid today and Monday when the last bought. There were no purchases over the two days when i don't think the price dropped below £11. | dcarn
14/7/2016 13:04 | SDY market cap £168m and seems to be turning the corner, expects to beat year end forecasts.Given how switched on the BoD are just don't think this buyback was one of their better moves.......but wtfdik!.On the flip side at least they are doing it when the PE is a lot lower than its average.DD | discodave4
14/7/2016 12:51 | If UK, a previous target; Lavendon (LVD) is capitalised at £209 million. I suspect that they would have to pay more than that. But I take your point. I am wary of share buybacks. Seems to suggest that they do not know what to do with the money so go for an easy option. The success of buybacks is usually difficult to assess. | bracke
14/7/2016 12:08 | Hello bracke,Another acquisition.DD | discodave4
14/7/2016 11:43 | Good day Disco "In other words they could have invested £200m elsewhere and had a greater return than 3%" ==================== Where else? | bracke
14/7/2016 11:04 | Just been working out the equivalent rate of return for the share buyback programme. If my workings are correct it could enhance eps by about 3.5% but the equivalent rate of return is poor at about 3%. In other words they could have invested £200m elsewhere and had a greater return than 3% and thus improved eps by more than the share buyback.Irrespective of the daily share price movement they just seem to be buying 100k shares each day (apart from on two occasions). Surely the time to have started the buyback was when the share price was at its lowest (Feb) and keep buying on the dips as much as is possible - isn't that what a normal investor in shares would try to do?.DD | discodave4
11/7/2016 20:42 | Historically AHT trades at a PE of 23, but forecast PE ratio at 13. The Shares are only up 3% this year despite a 13% drop in the £ vs $. AHT makes 85% of revenue from the US, brokers forecasting profit of 700m next year, with a high ROCE at 18.5% AHT is very cheap. Unless earnings are about to collapse, this is going much higher. US obviously doing very well, big beat in jobs last Friday. | invisage
11/7/2016 18:47 | Good day 2flat 1 Gaps - Yes there are a few to the 'South' and two to the 'North' one of which at 1119 was filled to day. The next is at 1144. 2 WAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! - Please try to maintain your decorum. This is respectable thread for the refined and genteel investor. | bracke
11/7/2016 17:39 | Evening brack. I've just two comments to make, 1. What no gaps 2. WAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! Cheers | 2flatpack
11/7/2016 15:41 | Two options now. 1 Drop back to test 1090. 2 Aim for last swing high at 1155. Bear in mind that there may be a retrace first. | bracke
11/7/2016 12:57 | This stocks quality. Broken out! | invisage
10/7/2016 11:36 | I wish Ashtead would bid for Lavendon again and put me out of my misery ;-( | zho |
