15/10/2006 11:13 | Having held Parkland ,Kalamazoo and especially Arcon,Iknow shafted when I see shafted and AMCO fits the criteria perfectly. The huge spread and lack of any further communication from the company shout "done deal".The answer is,of course,to follow Amco into whichever corporate "fold"it ends up!!!!! | mudbath
14/8/2006 15:26 | Must be a bid from outside the company soon,The management will now find it hard to turn down anythiung over £3. | balcony
11/8/2006 16:54 | So what is going on with this approach from management @ 275p per share, well below market price?? | techno trousers
02/8/2006 07:05 | Well what another great set of results,I would not be surprized to see the shares at £5 by the time of the finals. | balcony
07/6/2006 13:58 | Quietly moving forward - bit like this thread.... LONDON (AFX) - Construction group Amco PLC saw its full year results improve "substantially", helped by the performance of structural steel, contracting, property development and plastic. The experienced "modest" losses on Dosco underground equipment. Pretax profit in the year to Dec 31 came in at 7 mln stg against 3 mln, the earnings per share was 42.7 pence compared with 23 pence while the dividend is to be 11 pence. The group intends to make an additional contribution of 1.4 mln stg to the pension fund, and said is positive about its prospects for 2006 but expects reduced profits from contracting activities due to the closure of UK coal, and added Dosco operates in a "very difficult market" and is hoping for a profit. | win2003
30/5/2006 12:24 | Found this one when doing a filtered search of high growth small caps. Figures look very impressive. PEG ratio 0.1, and anything less than 0.6 is an excellent indicator, IMHO. Entered at 374 which seemed good value for the 340-390 spread a few minutes later. Such a spread will deter PIs in these volatile times, though. Be interesting to see how that changes as we move towards August interims. | win2003
28/5/2006 10:45 | Must say AMCO has been a consistant performer over the last year, and there would appear to be more to come. Interims due 5th August. | guru11
15/5/2006 16:23 | This stock has that rare combination of growth + value. ARP is currently trading at a low price to sales ratio (well below 1) also its earnings multiple is still low. ROCE at around 27% and relative price strength over the last year....phenomenal! This stock has almost been my solitary holding over the last 18 months. Its outperformed other stocks of about the same market capitalisation with similar fundamentals to those stated above. Anyone out there with views on this outperformance? My hunch is that its because Amco's business includes (that magic word!)........MINING services. | bird of dawning
11/3/2006 16:47 | I've posted a reply on TMF, des (on the lines of my post above). | diogenesj
11/3/2006 10:22 | Anyone any thoughts? | desthecat
07/3/2006 21:39 | Yes, excellent results, but I sold mine last week too. I couldn't tell whether the broker's forecast or the much more downbeat statement by the company in November was correct. It turns out the broker was right - but companies that don't bother to keep shareholders properly informed will always tend to trade at a discount imo. | diogenesj
07/3/2006 14:26 | These are very good results,Wish now i had not sold all my shares,Hindsight what a wonderful thing. | balcony
02/2/2006 11:33 | My watch list of undervalued shares is getting shorter and shorter, B - perhaps a sign that the bull market is getting old. (Or is it me that's getting old?) Three I still like are ACG, DEBT (good value again after its recent drop) and CSW. All worth a look imo. | diogenesj
02/2/2006 11:10 | DiogenesJ-Early in the week the price was 225-275 but they were paying 240,Today they are paying 275.Any shares you think are undervalued at the moment?thanks. | balcony
02/2/2006 10:41 | Still good value, I think, B - although you might not be able to sell any on a bad day, so you certainly chose a good one. Mind you, I notice that part of the rise is illusory. The spread is now 275p-325p. If the bid is really 275p, it's only 10% up today. Good luck, and I'll hope to see you another board. | diogenesj
02/2/2006 10:19 | DiogenesJ-I have sold my last several thousand this morning,They took them no problem so someone wants plenty. | balcony
02/2/2006 09:47 | Isn't it strange how this share does nothing for weeks, and then one morning it's up (today) or down 20% for no apparent reason? | diogenesj
23/1/2006 13:25 | Don't know anything about that, B, sorry. Thanks for the good wishes - I need them at the moment - and the same to you. It's not that long ago that Amco and Tolent demerged, so I would be surprised if they remerged again now. | diogenesj
23/1/2006 12:43 | Diogenesj-do you know if they have sold the old AMCO house?thanks and good luck with your investments. | balcony
23/1/2006 10:51 | Thanks balcony - do you have any broker forecasts for eps ? | liarspoker
23/1/2006 10:50 | Liarspoker-My thinking is we will see a full year profit of between 5 and 6m pounds for the year,I also would not be surprized if amco and tolent merged at some time,Now would be a good time as the share prices are almost equal. | balcony
23/1/2006 10:21 | Any forecasts for these ? TIA | liarspoker |
