Red,

well true value will be accounted to the market cap once producing date is known or closer.

Plenty of explorations Cos in PFS/DFS phases, but all discounted until close to being a producer. I think that is because funding is usually required to bring it online once these studies have been completed

Until the copper is a producing asset, then it will be discounted..in my opinion

so in effect ASA Management and one of the biggest copper groups in the World together value the Copper bit as c.$40m but most of us shareholders (and probably the market) simply dismiss it as irrelevant

so if the valuation is already 'discounted' that surely only leaves upside to market perception?

never paid much attention to copper side (mainly because gold and nickel are the huge company makers) but there are 2 big option plays given involvement of Hailiang gives at least base vale of c.$20m to one of those options it is substantial for £30m Mkt Cap

this is interesting from accounts...

An impairment indicator was identified for SEMHKAT, being the low copper price. Management calculated an estimated resource valuation for the existing 122,599 tonnes (2015: 122,599 tonnes) of copper and the key assumptions of the resource valuation were a copper price of $75/tonne (2015: $75/tonne) per ounce for inferred resources, $187/tonne (2015: $187/tonne) per ton for measured indicated resources. A pre-tax discount rate of 27% (2015: 27%) was used and was calculated as a discounting rate for similar exploration operations in developing countries, adjusted for the specific risks of the SEMHKAT project. Management was satisfied that the resource valuation exceeded the carrying amount of the assets despite the lower current copper price and no impairment of SEMHKAT's assets was deemed necessary.

Could we be due 're-pairment' upward revaluation soon ?

Exactly. I prefer the 'real' assets rather than the dreaming. Sounds like pumping to me.

Cannot get excited about copper potential . This will be a longer term bonus, but Copper prices may come under pressure as over supply The smelter coming online , Nickel and Gold revenues look promising Like I said quarter by quarter , we will see the rewards

Kalaa Mpinga, CEO of Mwana Africa, commented, "The potential of the Katangacopper belt has been recognised for decades, and many prospects have alreadybeen explored. Our drilling results now provide substantial support for ourbelief that the Kibolwe licence area potentially contains a major new resourcewith the potential for highly profitable production. Our major airborne surveywill furthermore enable us to prioritise existing targets as well as assist inidentifying new targets for future exploration."Charl du Plessis, Executive Vice President Exploration of Mwana, who holds a PhDand is a Member of the AusIMM, is a "Qualified Person" as defined in the AIMRules and in National Instrument 43-101 - Standards of Disclosure for MineralProjects, and the information contained in this press release is based uponinformation prepared under the supervision of Dr. du Plessis.

The Copper could be very interesting given recent copper price spike

My understanding of it was this is 'elephant country' in prime Copper belt with ASA having some good seams of decent grade copper from surface. Not sure ASA drill results have ever actually confirmed anything to validate that though.

harhoo 2,057 postsCopper Play NewsASA has 38% non dilutable of JV in Kinshasa - Hailiang spending $25 million dollars on the mine guaranteed.ASA has a 100% interest in 33 exploration licences covering about 4,721 kmĀ² in the Katanga copper belt region of southeastern DRC (figure 1). The Hailiang Joint Venture, signed in February 2013, covers 27 licence areas, with a commitment by Hailiang to spend $25m over a four-year period. In terms of the JV agreement, the licences will be transferred into a development company in which ASA will hold a 38% non-dilutable stake. Also under the joint venture agreement, Hailiang had a six-month option over the Kibolwe licence, which has expired.Geology and history:Kibolwe: Exploration is focusing on sediment-hosted stratiform copper-cobalt, iron-oxide-copper-gold (IOCG) occurrences as well as on showings of lead and zinc.Kibolwe is the most advanced of the SEMHKAT concessions and is located approximately 150 kilometres north-west of Lubumbashi and 86 kilometres south-west of the town of Likasi. Kibolwe is a near-surface secondary enriched sediment-hosted stratiform copper deposit. The above comes from the website - JV signed in 2013 - 25 million spend expires in a few months so news must be imminent on this gigantic copper rich mine. I spoke to ASAs advisers on the phone who were helpful and confirmed news of copper play had not come out and was still expected, suggesting all on track...The market as VISITOR says has not priced this in - under the radar - big copper news from Kinshasa could transform the company. Get your seatbelts on 4721 KM squared sized mine - 38% of that, non dilutable, richest copper mining by recovery area in the world, shallow mines... Where has this been hiding.... ASA have kept very quiet about this... DYOR GLA
