24/8/2006 09:36 | Think Ambas holding makes this share a good buy and these prices. I like their emphasis on processed products to add value. | hvs
24/8/2006 09:23 | markle Agree they sold the depots and glass dairies on the cheap as I said in post 209, my take on it is that Arla Amba never wanted the doorstep and middle groud as it doesn't fit their profile. IMO Amba have used their 51% share of the arla foods business to persuade weak managment to make decisions that have manipulated the share price downwards for obvious reasons. | deniscaff
23/8/2006 20:14 | good movement today, Have we seen the bottom now ? | hvs

23/8/2006 11:21 | Just spoted this : Arla rumour raises fresh concerns over milk prices JIM BUCHAN CONSUMERS in the UK should brace themselves for fresh milk disappearing from their doorstep in the near future, or even from the supermarket. So says Ian Potter, a leading broker of milk quota - effectively, the right to milk cows. Less than a decade ago, milk quota was selling for up to 70p per litre, but now fetches little more than 1.5p per unit. Potter said: "Dairy farmers are being screwed into the ground by the processors and, more significantly, the supermarkets. "These people just assume there will always be milk to buy as cheap as possible. Let me give them a wake-up call: we have never had so many farmers telling us that they want to get rid of their quota and get out of the grind of milking cows. Who can blame them?" His comments came yesterday on the back of unconfirmed reports that Arla, the principal supplier to Asda, will soon announce another price cut to its suppliers. The first to be hit are farmers in the north of Scotland who supply the Claymore plant in Nairn. The future of this facility has been in doubt for months and Iain Larg, the operations director, confirmed the 25 dedicated producers will be subject to an immediate cut of 0.75p per litre. Arla controls over 90 per cent of the dairy market in Denmark, but while it has been performing relatively well in Scandinavia, its record in the UK has been less than robust, with successive profit warnings on the London Stock Exchange. There is a distinct possibility the company will have to terminate contracts with some of its direct dairy farmer suppliers. If that happens, then there will be further pressure on the ex-farm price of milk, but farmers still wonder if consumers will even notice - until there is no milk. 23/8/2006 11:20 | Den, as a former employee at Arla, I know the most profitable parts of the business, ad the 2 glass dairies were the best 2. I am also taking into account efficiences, trippage and raw milk costs. I am just surprised at their decision to sell these two dairies off, as well as all the depots for 33 million. The property value alone of the depots is 32.8 million. So selling the middle ground and doorstep at 200,000 don't make sense to me. Has to be something else going on | markle
23/8/2006 11:18 | Well there`s another biggish donkey just trampled across the Plusnet exchange .......500k shares changed hands at 44p with no impact on the sp so somebody wants out ..........and somebody wants in Could this be the start of nominee stockbuilding by amba....? We shall see | gerry321
23/8/2006 10:25 | Would not agree with that. So many donkeys being dressed up as horses these days. | hvs
23/8/2006 10:22 | 186k sell share price up 1.2% if ever you wanted proof that we small investors should stick to our day job !!!, even horse racing is more predictable. | deniscaff
23/8/2006 09:35 | Wiseman up up up, Arla down down down. I hope there is no volume about to change hands, anybody know when the major retailers contracts are up ? | deniscaff
22/8/2006 20:17 | I agree, Buy at these rock bottom prices and be patient. | hvs
22/8/2006 20:11 | I suppose what we all need to remember is that amba could sit for years without bidding.... if they have had a tough year then maybe the acquisition of ARU is what they put on hold........ However given that all the bad news is surely crammed into the first half year then a half decent tradng update ough to push the share price over 50p again.......... | gerry321
22/8/2006 20:03 | Could not resist a buy of 25k @44p. | hvs
22/8/2006 19:41 | Baffled also..... the rot set in after the Danish cartoon affair. Shares look ridiculously cheap.....still believe that Arla amba want 100% of Arla UK.... | quepassa
22/8/2006 11:52 | Beginning to think that Arla Uh have a problem with the quality of their mgt........hope so cos.... ... that can be fixed..ideally by amba more concerned that amba arent moving to mop up shares that are cheap any way you calculate........ | gerry321
22/8/2006 09:29 | Kinel blue !!! how long can this last ? | deniscaff

21/8/2006 16:55 | Markle How come RWD are so profitable at it ? | deniscaff
21/8/2006 16:25 | Arla have just sold off the most profitable part of their business, supermarket supply maybe a higher volume of trade but is not as profitable. | markle
21/8/2006 16:09 | Sell off ( or should that be give away ? ) has been confirmed , the way is now clear for Arla Amba to pick up 49% for a song unless there is another trick up their sleeve to manipulate the share price down even further !!, how about another warning based on the oil price or supermarket reduced margins or maybe a lost contract ?, how come the rest of the industry ie RWD ( all time high ) and Dairy Crest ( up 25% )are doing so well over the same period that Arla has slumped to a two year low ? , something stinks !! | deniscaff
21/8/2006 10:29 | maybe upside? 44.75P. | ang5
