Stating the obvious but consolidating over 2p seems a bit distant today....

Soul - I agree there should be some institutional interest by now and the blame for that lies firmly at the feet of PG. Could it be they are simply basking in their former glory and expecting the II's to come knocking at THEIR door? This surely has to be one of those stories that is able to sell itself so I say get rid of Panmure flippin Gordon and save their fees to the bank. Let Kerim & Co get on with doing what they do best and in a short time I bet the company will get the attention it deserves. WITHOUT PG!

A brief but interesting interview with the CEO of Barrick about the sector in general on Mining dot com. They also tweeted it not long ago. It is something that is easy to lose sight of imo when looking at fundamentals and the way they should reflect based on historic sector performance. On the plus side, while we are yet to see gold benefit significantly from the drive for alternative investment off the back of Trump/Brexit uncertainty, it is still expected by many commentators, and this one forecasts end of next year.

imho, bearing in mind the excellent relationship with their Turkish bank (who will be falling over themselves to debt finance Tasvan) and the avoidance of further equity issues the board doesn't need to be concerned about an increase in the share price. Apart from making existing shareholders feel better, the only case in which it would help is if there was a bid from an outsider.

Yes a dividend would affect the share price positively if it was a significant %, but what would qualify as a significant % to affect share price ? It would i suspect also need to be more than a 1 off dividend to mantain improved share price surely ? Would 5% do it ? Yes if it wasn't a 1 off and they could maintain it. Yes i agree with you.

Carrying out the reduction does not mean that they have to distribute the reserves immediately but perhaps they feel that the time is coming to reward shareholders? After all, they could probably spare £1m without affecting operations and this would materially affect the share price.

They certainly need the cash for growth at this stage but the producing operation is beginning to chuck out a healthy amount at the moment.

Hi Jc2706, I just did'nt think the company would be issuing dividends for a while, they need a hefty chunk of cash for Tavsan and Salinbas. They are also using accountant terminology which for non-accountant pi's like myself leads to confusion, ie Court Scheme.

The capital reduction creates distributable reserves that can the be used to pay a dividend. This is pretty common with mining companies that I have seen (I tend to only follow miners) just before they are in a position to pay a dividend - see AAZ as an example.

Thank you Stoph, that makes sense and is more in line with my thinking. The bit in rns i didn't did'nt quite follow was the following statement taken from rns. Your input has clarified things for me.

Furthermore, the Company is now considering whether to pursue a Court Scheme in order to achieve a reduction of capital, which would provide the Company with positive distributable reserves to enable future purchases of its own shares and/or distributions to shareholders, such as dividends.

MDV told me that the buyback was to help their employees sell their shares as they had no easy accees to a means of selling them. Share buybacks in general are not planned by the company but will be used for the same reason in the future once the balance sheet structure is sorted.

We need all the cash we have with Tavsan finance looming in the forseeable future. Hopefully we will use the loan structure that is working so well at the moment.

Wasn't it something to do with buying stock off Turkish employees to help them out.

A share buyback is the opposite of a fundraising so that should go down very well here.

Think they meant resolving rather than resolution at the agm. It was for a small amount of buyback but having systems in place for buyback can only be good for share price as it gives a message to markets that there is intent, be it now or in the future.

It was a pure accounting issue , something to do with not being able to by back stock if you had certain item/s on balance sheet.

The clear bullish flag formation currently in place in the $gold price, as far as it's definition goes, is pointing to a short term resolution and an increase (based on the length of the 'flagpole') to somewhere around $1440 by year end or early next.

That's just what the tealeaves are saying and are my opinion only. However, if it's even anywhere near the ballpark, with potential for Hot Maden II (or Salinbas I!), and 90% of loan paid off by year-end, this Xmas could be one for the books. :o)

Sorry, not clued up enough to answer that, it may be within the BODs remit to do without. Someone else may be able to answer that.
