The options at 24p look good. Assuming they're going to use company funds to buy back shares and lift the price to make 24p attractive to the recipients of the options.

Theyve already referenced up to $2m of buybacks this year, and as the directors are already major holders, they arent going to sell their shares on the way to 24p to then later exercise options at 24p.

All bodes well for a doubling of the share price.

Well FWIW, I'm in for a few here at 12.17p.

With as good as £17m in the bank, and pre-tax heading for £2m or so, the mkt cap of £9.25m at 12.75p mid makes no sense notwithstanding Cypriot registration and what would appear to be weak litigation, about which Argo state:

"Argo considers that the courts of Colorado do not have jurisdiction over it and that the claim against Argo is wholly without merit. In April 2010 the Colorado court dismissed Cascade's action against ACMH for failure to state a claim, following which Cascade filed a second amended complaint. Argo subsequently filed a motion to dismiss Cascade's second amended complaint, which motion is pending before the court. Argo intends to continue to vigorously defend its position."

As and when this is resolved, the share price could double and it would still look cheap.

What looks like sales today, may all be buys. I know because the 20,000 at 12.13p was my purchase, which went through below mid.

also very under the radar. 20 posts on here in 1 year, and rarely many trades in the stock. Great potential if a wider audience become aware.

The fact that they are still buying back shows that they still see that they will make a profit for the year as they said they where going to buy back due to there performance.
Also I was doing some calculations and if they used all of the 2 million to buy back stock, and just for calculations sake, the share price doesn't rise or fall by next april ( i no this wont happen but for calculations sake) then using all the 2 million would give us a profit of 15% on that, then include the 7.69% you get from the divident then that leads to a profit by next year of 22.69%. which is very decent.
But say they was only going to buy back half of what they say then from now it would make us 3.8% more profit, plus the divided gives you 11.49%. so still good.
But remember how undervalued this is anyway, it could be much more.
The negative news we could get is that we loose the court case going on and that would effect the price. and also the funds could perform badly, but then from there history we shouldnt worry to much about that.

Having held these before, i bought some more today. I see good safety in the net assets and confirmed intention to buy back shares and pay good dividends. The potential for positive performance of the business is kind of thrown in for free.

Another 1m shares bought back by the co today. Good use of their cash, while the share price is this low.

The share buy-back as extracted below from the results would equate to the company acquiring approx. 10m shares at the current price today. This equates to circa 15% of the issued share capital. If nothing else, it should provide a floor to the SP, and given the positive statements made in the accounts, should help to lift the price. The share price today is still at a discount of 63% to NAV!!!!

"The directors recommend a final dividend of 1p per share (2008: Nil). The final dividend will be paid on 23 June 2010 to shareholders who are on the Register of Members on 28 May 2010. Going forward, it is intended that the Company implements a progressive dividend policy, paying a final dividend each year. In addition the directors intend to undertake a share purchase programme up to a maximum total value of USD2 million over a period of 12 months commencing from 1 April 2010. The directors firmly believe that a return of excess cash to shareholders through dividends and buy-backs will send a positive message to investors in the Company."

Well, up 24% again today. With the buy-back potentially starting tomorrow, I wonder if we will see a continued rise!

The share price is rising steadily on small purchases. The outstanding claim has not been highlighted as a material uncertainty, so I can only assume the directors have no concern at all of its validity, especially when the have announced a share buy-back and a good dividend.
With the increase, the mkt cap is still only £10m, v NA's of £27m.

The company intends to commence the buy-back from the 1st April. Given the NA's are circa £27m v a mkt cap of £7.3m, there should now be a steady rise in the share price The only negative I can see is the outstanding claim in which ARGO are included, although they do state there is not a case to answer.

Results out today:

Key Highlights for the twelve months ended 31 December 2009 (the comparative trading period is from 13 June 2008 to 31 December 2008 unless otherwise stated)

- Improved performance across the Argo credit funds
- Remained profitable despite significant reduction in performance fee income
- Revenues of USD11.7 million (2008: USD16.6 million)
- Operating profit of USD0.9million (2008: USD9.3 million)
- Profit before tax of USD2.4 million (2008: USD8.2 million)
- Strong balance sheet: net assets of USD44.5 million (December 2008: USD40.9 million)

Commenting on the results and outlook, Kyriakos Rialas, Chief Executive of Argo said:

"In line with the entire hedge fund industry the Company and its funds have experienced two difficult years of trading. However the Company has been able to stabilise its position by making some difficult yet essential decisions. As a result the Company's liquidity and balance sheet are strong and its regulatory structure is well established. As the Company's main fund enters its tenth year of existence it is well positioned to benefit from any upturn in market conditions."

I wasn't wowed by the performance of their funds in 2009 but then I've not looked at their objectives. Nice to see a bounce in the share price but then it has been drifting since the highs of September.
