The Sunday Tribune!!!
27th February 2005

Super half page over 2000 word article on Arcon, a little on Boliden-Tara,
citing Umicore as an example of the zinc refiners, who have stopped selling
the commodity, thus spurring "futures" prices....picture of Arcon CEO, Peter
Kidney, and titled " Good news about to zinc for Ireland's metal industry"...
Kidney quoted saying that he would'nt sell 100000 tons to a single customer in this climate, as he was approached recently to do!!!
Society Generale quoted as saying demand will outstrip production this year,
by 400000 tons and quoting rising prices to continue towards the 1997 high
of $1900.
Kideny admitted to having customers beating down his door, offering him terms
he could'nt have dreamed of before!!!!
Also complimented Arcon's decision to mine lead this year, citing an ever
decreasing supply of lead at $1000 per ton or more!!!!
I love my 300000 shares.....and these guys think this company is worth
a Euro96 million at 55 cents.......
Cant reprint here the article.....Tribune wants 80 quid for an annual
fee to view the website in detail!!!

Of course its not relevant - if Rexam posted a fall in profits (due to an increase in metal costs) this could also be classified as good news. Selling more cans is only part of the equation - if their costs are rising it could even be time to short Rexam unless the mine the metal as well as making the cans.

Think it proves the point that metals and commodities in general
arethe subject of increased demand and we are seeing daily
projections of shortages down the line in stockpiles!!!
But I suppose you feel this is not relevant??

and another 310K

no way the mm's would take in this amount of stock (without a home for it)and not drop the bid.

I agree it looks like a sell.

BUT.

I can't see why mm's would take in that amount of stock at that price and not drop the bid. However, I also can't see them giving that amount of stock away at a discount to the offer.

So I guess maybe it's a typo? or a late trade reported incorrectly or maybe the mm's know that they can shift the 310k at significantly more than the 39 they paid.

either way the fact that what looks like a large sell has not dropped the bid can only be good news.

This share goes up on a 500 buy, but doesn't shift on a 310000 sell!

very strange.

yeah!!!
Used to think they would make an offer to Sir A and us of course...
mainly because their zinc quality is poor and they need the mix...
I dont have many views on that now that selling Arcon is not an option...
Sir A did'nt wait this long for his payday to take short change...
buying Tara is'nt an option either....buying was mentioned last year
out of a need to diversify....so buying a share of or whole lead mine
would be logical....considering the cash they are going to have in April
or the leverage on borrowing and their dollars...

Interesting stock traded on sets otherwise that 20k sell would have knocked the price in such an iliquid share.
