AR never deserved the pull back to recent lows imho, but it was a market-wide phenomenon and it did no worse than many others.
The present rise is no more than a sensible recovery towards a reasonable rating and still leaves more to come.
The market is being a little more discerning now and not all pm stocks have participated in the rise of the past week or two which has notably excluded some serial disappointers or untrusted managements.
AR is certainly not one of those and looks like a good steady investment (insofar as that can be said of any gold miner!) for years to come. No cash worries, expansion and life extension all easily fungible internally and a good margin over cost to guard against the unlikely event of gold falling to the $1100/oz region.

We know more or less what we have got so the possible upside is not as dramatic as could arise from a bombed out explorer picked with a pin that suddenly hits it rich.

overall I reckon my buy price is ~45p but that includes some at 62p earlier this year

Silverfern,

I think still a good buy, maybe greater gains elsewhere but AR. looks a sound buy at this price to me in a stable area and up to now AR has done what it has said it would always. I'm just annoyed I missed the 50p the other day, but I believe plenty of upside still.

Yorgi - 56-60p is a good buy price inmho given the share was 78p earlier in the year and nothing has changed except more gold has been produced. DO you thinkit is now at its peak?

i think we are in the process of a significant rerating here.
doubtless there will be some sitting on the sidelines hoping for a retrace befroe buying/ buying more.
not sure it will happen.

never catch a falling knife- but when the price is shooting up, buy.

Today Rick Rule told King World News that Europe has, "... a range of insolvent governments. They can't get anybody else to buy their phony paper, so they buy it themselves. I think the US is in less bad shape, but that's like saying you are the tallest midget playing basketball."

He also reckons gold will soon come into its own.

When this happens: "Our focus is to grow into a respected and regionally dominant mid-cap gold producer, managing a portfolio of gold mines and delivering significant value and returns for our shareholders. With the management team that we now have in place, we are confident that we can achieve this vision and I look forward to updating you on our progress." Claerly the cost of on gong development eats into profits but only so that in time more gold can be carried out - I'd say three years unless they acquire new fields.

yes, overall, I first bought around 40p but my last purchase was yesterday at 52p. The current price is daft (that's a technical term) and if this company stays on course I will get back my original investment in dividends and then some. THe area they can mine has much more to come

silverfern, well done you, I thought I had done okay to get in at recent lows. But I take it that you are in much much lower?
Continued positive newsflow should quickly take this back above 60p and the market will start to pay them the attention they deserve.

thanks. I've been here for quite a while (holding 6 figures), and have played SHG and MML quite nicely whilst holding these. AR. got to 78p earlier in the year and long-termers were reminded of former CEO COlin Loosemore's aim to reach £1 during first year of production. They've done nothing wrong here or in Indonesia - quite the opposite - and Engelbrecht, the new CEO, is articlate and focused on shareholder value. I just hope the market starts to reflect the value that is in this company.

Last week I bought some Archipelago Resources (AR.) on their drilling update and today their Interims look promising. Now waitiing to see how their share price reacts.

----------------

Now its moving on good volumes. I would like to see it above 55p before end of next week on strong volume.
-------

siverfern, SA miners get all the attention. I am a new investor here but I fully expect AR. to get lots of positive attention over the next 12-36 months.

Results well on track, continued good exploration results and expectation of further mine-life extension - all adds up to good value here, imho.
Annualised p/e of about 12 without factoring in any growth in H2 output revenue which should result from higher output oz but may be impacted by a slightly lower average pog.
