Rupe1958 Petroneft is not producing this year and I agree there is a premium paid on reserves for that of course. The Indians have also paid IRO $2.5 a barrel for IEC's oil, one of their main fields is directly next to PTR's. I am simply making a point that PTR is a bit of a sitting duck with one potentially cash rich suitor close and another already holding a stake. PTR is expecting a reserve upgrade shortly, which may be significant. It could be the catalyst for a bid. Time will tell.

Tadtech - you have to factor in production. Arawak is producing around 12,000 bpd, I think. Petroneft isn't a producer yet (is it?) An important difference And most of AAK's prod. is in Kazakhstan. The spread between three countries - Russia, Azerbaijan & Kazakhstan also makes it politically a bit safer than Petroneft. But Petroneft does look cheap, I agree, and when the oil starts flowing (later this year?) the share price will fly.

Vitol hold a 4% stake in Petroneft now which is more or less an clone of Arawak with similar reserves and operating in Russia. Vitol have paid around $2.7c a barrel for Arawaks oil whereas Petronefts oil is valued at less than 40c. Interesting!

Vitol have got themselves a bargain at Can$1. Annoying, but at least it's settled. The interesting question now, looking around the tangled wreckage of the junior O&G sector, is where to plonk the proceeds. MOG? IAE? Or something a bit bigger & safer like DGO?

That's it, another 10c.

90c seems a truly lousy offer, particularly since my average with these is around $2 but given that Vitol already own 41%, I suppose they'll get away with offering a small sweetener - another 10c?

I see AAK have recommended the offer be rejected. As a non-holder who was looking to buy some shares before the offer came in, I'd personally like the offer to fail and the share price to drift back down to 29p.

I knew there was something I forgot to do, buy some Arawak shares! D'Oh! Never mind, I'm sure there'll be a few more snapped up in the near-term, although Arawak did represent a prime target.

Yep, very cheap :-) Also, end of H2 cash was ~$54M IIRC, debt ~$72M. However, primary listing is on TSX so share price driven by Canada (hence, why beaten-up).

Sharescope has at £44m which is a big disconnect to output - certainly on my list as way undervalued but havent researched it yet.
