26/2/2015 11:43 | Platinum is needed for fuel cells and it's the combination of hydrogen storage with electric motors which is IMO the way forward. There's pros and cons and it's complicated but basically long term platinum prices should do well. The major risks are 1. fuel cell technology fails. Unlikely but remember betamax. 2. battery storage power density improves massively. Maybe. 3. another role for platinum catalysis fails to materialise. Maybe/maybe not. Fuel cells are a good fit for energy storage and portability for many manufacturing and transport needs. Worth buying carefully, I think. | librag
25/2/2015 21:36 | yes i think you are all probably right having thought about it...with the electric car revolution imminent i think i'm right to believe that no platinum will be used in their manufacture...and i dont think fuel cell cars will take off so that means the demand for platinum will shrink steeply...unless i missed something for the use of platinum that might give it a lift? | temmujin
25/2/2015 17:08 | I have tracked this one for over 2 years but have never seen a reason to invest. For me the really telling thing was the fact that a 5 month strike by most of the Platinum miners didnt do anything to push the metal price up. I don't think that AQP have done anything wrong but they simply can't control all the factors listed in the above post which will slowly kill them. | salpara111

23/12/2014 11:15 | FT That would suggest Amplats’ high-profile Rustenburg operations are less likely to appeal to Northam. But Aquarius’s Everest mine, which is mechanised and lies close to Booysendal in the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex — the world’s richest resource of platinum — would appear a suitable fit. “This area is a good mining area, and it’s an area where we can apply mechanised mining in a shallow ore base .&thinsp | dros1
