|cfb2: weatherman: Yes, they are looking for a buyer. The recent revenue means that the shares are worth 20p alone on cash in the company. The section on "contingent liabilities" might affect that valuation (the sort of thing that most companies have insurance for) but we now know our ex-CEO was asleep on the job.
Everything else to do with royalties, margins, difficulty with competing customers exactly as I posted above.
I feel sorry for employees, who are shortly going to be out of a job. The exception being those few technical people who will go to the company that buys the software.
In terms of valuation, the return will be cash minus any litigation costs with a possible upside of anything they can get for the software. I expect a bidding war between the companies that have licensed the software - and that is likely to be the reason for the upset with licensees.
P.S. Common sense says that Kestrel have seen this investment as likely to yield a return. They have engineered this outcome and the final price is very likely to exceed their average share price.|
|cfb2: I'm slighly embarrassed to confess that I bought a few too, a complete gamble based on Kestrel's interest. With the knowledge that the share price is likely below the cash value, taking the loss into account, puts this in the domain of a value share. However, I'm not buying any more until I see a proper CEO and their accounts.
|weatherman: Potentially ANT has some valuable software if it can develop it as an AP product to get TV on your ipad, ipod, Samsung etc.
A bid would have to take into account net cash, plus something for the business. But it might have some valuable software assets if developed properly.
Being the cynic, new management often issue dire statements to drive the share price down so they can get new shares on the cheap.|
|chrisdgb: Westhouse 40p share price target..................|
Thank you for posting here so often. If others were as interested in ANT as you are, the share price might actually rise !
I have held this share for years & years and add from time to time; my average price paid must be about 30p.
Waiting for the company to show a trading profit is frustrating but we might see one next year. If and when this happens, the shares will be hard to buy and could easily double. Even so, I do wish I had put my money somewhere else.|
|chrisdgb: Thanks for the posts, looking forward to some decent contracts and steady progress towards the 60p share price target..|
|exotic: The two large trade reports this morning 12 seconds apart were off-market transactions / technical manoeuvres, and would have no direct effect on the share price.
The 11,250 BUY would.|
|chrisdgb: nice article:
ANT plc, the Cambridge based digital TV software and services provider, saw its share price nudge two per cent higher after revealing a significant alliance with Harvard International, a global distributor of electrical goods.
The partnership has been created to design and develop software for Harvard's next generation of set-top box products.
These will provide high definition digital television recorder functionality and enable the delivery of services that combine digital media with broadband internet access using the ANT Galio Platform. No financial details are being disclosed.
The partnership will address the growing demand from retailers and consumers in both the UK and Australia for branded and own label STBs, which provide access to new high definition TV digital services through products which are well designed, easy to use and affordable.
These higher specification, market-leading HD TV products are due to be launched in the second half of this year.
It's great news for ANT, especially as the products target the larger free to air market. And Harvard International is a big industry influencer operating under the brand names Grundig and Goodmans and is the UK's leading supplier of Set Top Box's.
The alliance builds on the Humax deal also for this market in the UK that ANT signed in February.
ANT chief executive, Simon Woodward, said: "ANT's unique solution to the TV industry's demand for merged traditional and Internet TV services positions us at the heart of TV industry growth.
"We are thrilled to be working with Harvard in developing a range of high tech, consumer friendly, products which will help redefine the functionality of the set-top box. In particular, this is another example of the traction we are gaining for our ANT Galio Platform in the UK Free-to-Air set-top box market."|
|site manager: Squib as in firework - if thier damp they don`t go off - hence the term a damp squib. Although given the share price performance here I think you can go ahead and call it any sea creature you damn well like !.
Its been a bit like having shares in a bank at times ;-)
|chrisdgb: Rough numbers and based on ANT's 2009 revenues the price paid today by Pace just for the revenues and being conservative and
ignoring the massive cash balance
gives an equivalent ANT share price of 55.65p........
Enough said, now lets get buying..|
