06/6/2015 21:17 | Altor and Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division have acquired the majority stake in Hamlet Protein, the parties have announced. They are taking on the stake from Polaris Private Equity and the Hamlet Protein’s founder Ole K Hansen, who both exit the company after successful periods. Hamlet Proteins produces soy-based products that are used in feed for young animals – servicing more than 50 countries from their dual headquarters in Horsens, Denmark and Findlay, Ohio. Polaris Private Equity exits the company after a successful investment and partnership that has seen Hamlet Protein develop into one of the leading specialists in its field. Polaris partner Niels Worning praised the relationship between the two parties and said he was pleased that Polaris had managed to facilitate “a successful management succession”. >See also: Half of SMEs 'permanent non-borrowers' “[We have] turned Hamlet Protein into a leading global provider of specialty soya for young animal feed – with a strong market position in Europe, US and Asia – through developing global sales organization and significant investments in expanding capacity including establishing a sales and production facility in the US,” he said. Hamlet Protein CEO Søren Munch called the new partnership “another important milestone” for the company. “With the strong support of Altor and Goldman Sachs Merchant Banking Division we are uniquely positioned to accelerate the development and growth of Hamlet Protein and better service our customers and partners globally,” he added. Michael Specht Bruun, managing director in the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, said the team had been “impressed by the high value-add young animal feed platform that the management team and employees have built”. “We see significant growth potential globally and are excited about partnering with Altor and the management team to support the company’s impressive growth trajectory both organically and through acquisitions,” he continued. - | battlebus2

03/6/2015 18:31 | Update before the end of June if last year is repeated.Sale of organics business will see reduction in turnover but not profit, according to last financials.I always want to see the cash position and it should benefit from the sale of Vitrition. The big question for me is,just how fast is the American subsidiary growing? Are we near a big deal with one of the U.S. integrators?....I hope so (transformational). | spekky
28/5/2015 09:17 | hd good to see the continued buying by ca over on hur | laserdisc
28/5/2015 09:11 | Certainly no follow through buying this week so my concerns have been laid to rest! I too prefer the adage that the best way to get rich is slowly! For sure Anpario will get taken out in the fullness of time but another few years would not go amiss. | hiddendepths
26/5/2015 09:57 | still can't see sufficient volume to suggest any sort of corporate activity. Price has risen on small volumes, about £20k traded so far today in a company worth about £70 million, and that's a fairly typical day. Don't get me wrong, I like this company a lot. My biggest holding by far and most of my ISA is in here. I think we will get bought out eventually, but just not quite yet. Slow and steady wins the race.. | nivison
25/5/2015 09:58 | I am curious to know what is going on.I hope Anpario will be independent for a couple of years more as I believe their market is nowhere near matured. If however, some of the on going trials prove that the products really do have benefits in the fight against PEDV then that is a game changer,it adds a new dimension which antibiotics are incapable of achieving. This is from last results..........as I said, GAME CHANGER .(if proved further) The prevalence of porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus (PEDv) in the US has caused significant losses for the industry. A number of Anpario products were used to conduct small-scale trials with pigs fed an infected diet to which our products were then added. The pigs were then tested daily for PEDv and it was found that the incidence of PEDv had declined. This work was reinforced by some of our Japanese and Thai customers who also experienced a lower incidence rate of PEDv when using our products. Although these were small-scale trials they have given confidence to customers to buy our products in order to combat PEDv, as well as gaining the other benefits associated with our technology. | spekky
25/5/2015 07:07 | nivison - I've been keeping a keen eye on the volumes and don't agree that they don't suggest bid activity. The market is very thin and there have been few sellers despite the rise. That does not gainsay buying from the fringes of mooted predatory action - there is nearly always some leakage, even it is not noticeable in a more widely traded stock. As for institutional buying; if there isn't stock in the market they have to pick up whatever bits and pieces they can at a rising price. The cash pile you refer to is, of course, another attraction for anyone eyeing up ANP. | hiddendepths
24/5/2015 18:58 | Volume doesn't suggest any activity of that sort. I think we are a couple of years away from that sort of attention. What interests me is what ANP are going to do with their mounting cash pile. I hope they find a worthwhile add on and continue to grow organically. The US venture looks to be v successful as well, pushing at an open door there I think. I just want these guys to keep going. | nivison
24/5/2015 10:03 | Since I bought this a year or so ago I have viewed ANP as a beautiful little company. Well managed, growing nicely, cashflow positive, strong balance sheet, dividend paying, environmentally friendly and far from expensive. All in all, a perfect long term lock-away. This latest run-up makes me a little uneasy. Anpario has to be an attractive takeover target. Up till now it has been under many radars but now it has broken out it is surely being noticed by a wider chunk of the investment community. I have some comfort from the paucity of posters on here but I guess even that might be about to change. Hopefully this rise isn't a function of potential predator attention but I wouldn't count on it. With a bit of luck it is just an institution attempting to acquire a meaningful stake, which is tricky as the shares are tightly held. It would be a shame if ANP is taken over prematurely. It's all very well for short term profit for shareholders but it's a problem finding stocks of this quality to invest in. I think that Tuesday will be interesting. If buying emerges at the new, higher 370 level, we will know something is afoot. | hiddendepths
22/5/2015 12:14 | Good - it got there! Still holding, one for the long term this unless it gets taken out. Wife buying me a birthday lunch today, the wine will taste even better | ayl30
