lobby,

Depends on the price. Not all is clawed back, just a bigger proportion from $750 to $1250. But it has a big effect around $1000 to $1250, the net price to the producer doesnt change much as tax ramps up at those prices. But greater than the ceiling of $1250 ( I think ), then it kicks in as the maximum tax is 25%..

But some positive changes recently..

Yes, all looking tickety boo.
But one question (if anyone can answer it please). What's the effect of the Indonesian Government tax regime ? Does it mean that above a certain level, any increase in the CPO price is merely clawed back in additional tax ?

Anglo-Eastern Plantations Plc

Interim Management Statement

Anglo-Eastern Plantations Plc ("AEP" or "the Company"), which owns approximately 133,000 hectares of plantation land, primarily in Indonesia, and operates approximately 53,000 hectares of developed plantations, today announces its Interim Management Statement in respect of the period since 31 December 2010.

Operational and financial performance

For the first three months ended 31 March 2011, our own production of fresh fruit bunches ("FFB") was 146,600mt, an increase of 23% compared to the same period in 2010 (1Q10:119,400mt). FFB bought in was 118,000mt, 29% higher in comparison with the same period in 2010 (1Q10:91,200mt). Total Crude Palm Oil ("CPO") produced was 52,500mt, 25% better than the corresponding period in 2010 (1Q10:42,000mt) mainly due to better FFB yield from favourable weather and an increase in FFB bought in.

CPO CIF Rotterdam price averaged US$1,244/mt for the first three months to 31 March 2011, an increase of 53% from the average of US$812/mt recorded in the first quarter of 2010.

From Kroffinvest (nr 517 - 05/18/2011) : kroffinvest.be
language problem : it's a flemish investor"s letter .
I'm french speaking and it 'd take a lot of time to translate from flemish to english !
*
'to tell a long story short' :
cash position : 48.38M (all fig in us$), the repartition of the plantations (rubber & palmoil in the regions - see the page in the annual report), 44.397 ha (hectares) (for aep), is the value /ha ( at 770gbpence market) :
10.000 us$ (per ha).
In comparison with the peers, : a bargain.

I'm not surprised at all. I've never once seen AEP share price react to results, good or bad. The share does what it does but the trend is up so we can all sleep sound and wait for the 100K ha output in a few years.

I'm surprised by the lukewarm reception - would have expected share price solidity or a modest climb.

Decent results. 16% increase in planted area, plan to increase by 10,000 Ha per year for the next four years, furthe rmills planned and 20% increase in FFB for the first two months of the year bodes well for future earnings. Lets hope they get a better run with weather this year.

In the weekend's edition of "the tijd" (financial flemish paper), Patrick millecamp (value-square fund) wrote on palmoil and he gave a strong buy for AEP (tg 900gbp): low P/B, low EV/hectare : 9.447 us$ : the peers are much expensive.
SIPEF (euronext brussels) is also a good value.

CPO is about 5% off the highs this year... and as feared that wasn't a breakout. I wouldn't mind another dip to low 700s for an ISA top up ;)
