19/8/2011 19:21 | Today's news that a subsidiary of Andes Energia (LON:AEN) has restructured its debt "highlights Andes' growing financial maturity", according to the Alternative Investment Market-quoted firm's house broker Arbuthnot Securities. Andes is a diversified energy group with oil and gas, hydroelectric and electricity distribution operations in Argentina. This morning the firm announced that its 51 per cent-owned electricity distribution subsidiary EDEMSA (Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad de Mendoza Sociedad Anonima) has entered into a syndicated loan agreement for 144 million Argentinean pesos (US$36 million), which will be repayable in 10 equal quarterly instalments beginning in May 2012. Interest payments will be fixed for the initial four payments, with subsequent payments variably linked to the Central Bank of Argentina benchmark rate (currently nine per cent). The funds are being used mainly to refinance the subsidiary's existing debt as well as accelerate the implementation of work plans and provide working capital. A proportion of the funds will be used to buy back approximately 90 per cent of existing EDEMSA bonds in issue. Arbuthnot said that the move to exchange its US dollar-denominated bonds for an Argentinean-denomina The broker added that there is no impact to its valuation, although it continues with its 'strong buy' recommendation' and a target price of 56 pence per share. Last week Andes announced interim results for EDEMSA that showed the subsidiary produced a profit of 11 million pesos, compared with a profit of 27 million pesos in H1 2010. The firm pointed out that a one-time gain of 21 million pesos was recognised in the comparable period last year. Sales during H1 2011 were up five per cent at 18 million pesos. The increase was due to the "pass through" of increases in energy costs as well as a slight increase in demand. Andes also owns Hidroeléctrica Ameghino a hydroelectricity business that has a 50-year concession (which began in 1994) to operate the Amerghino hydro power plant that is situated 120 kilometres south-west of Trelew city in Chubut Province. The plant has an installed capacity of 60 megawatts, employs around 25 staff and has low annual capital expenditure and maintenance requirements meaning that electricity is generated by the plant at a cost of 25 pesos per megawatt-hour. Andes is also involved in several oil and gas exploration licence blocks around Argentina. It has a 20 per cent participation in two exploration licence blocks in the province of Nequen and an option to acquire a 50 per cent interest in a production field in the province of Mendoza. | empirestate

10/8/2011 09:36 | This Fitch rating is excellent news and would hope that this now gets some eyes of those who can see value. Broker note earlier in the year had a conservative 54p target and with lots of O&G transactions taking place since means this is cheaper still. AIMHO | simonparker5
10/8/2011 07:13 | The Board of Andes, the Latin American energy group, is pleased to announce that Fitch Inc. ("Fitch") has granted Andes's shares a rating of Level 2. The rating is designed to measure overall investment risk taking into account different variables including but not limited to a company's size, history, price volatility, financial results, business risk, investment plans and liquidity of the securities market. A full copy of Fitch's report will be available at Luis Alvarez Poli, Chief Executive Officer of Andes, commented, "This is excellent news which we believe will create additional demand and liquidity as this will now provide the opportunity for Argentine institutional investors, investment funds, mutual funds, insurance companies and even local banks to trade our shares on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange | stuart14
