09/5/2019 21:48 | Very interesting read.... ZAF Energy Systems announces breakthrough in cycle life performance for nickel-zinc battery Thursday, 09 May 2019 0 Robin Whitlock ZAF Energy Systems Inc. (ZAF), a developer of next-generation battery technology, has announced a technology breakthrough in their nickel-zinc (NiZn) battery technology that extends cycle life and improves reliability. ZAF Energy Systems announces breakthrough in cycle life performance for nickel-zinc battery Courtesy of ZAF Energy Systems The announcement was made by Dr. Kurt Salloux who has recently joined ZAF’s executive team as its new Chief Technology Officer. ZAF’s NiZn batteries have direct uses in a wide range of applications including heavy trucking, remote telecommunication, data centres’ and renewable energy. NiZn batteries are currently positioned to disrupt the $50 billion+ conventional lead-acid battery market and the rapidly growing $30 billion lithium market. Randy Moore, ZAF’s president and CEO said that Dr Salloux’s industry knowledge and technical expertise has changed the trajectory of the company’s development team and that he has led the team on an innovative electrode design, which resulted in the potential to double the battery’s projected cycle life. The magnitude of this improvement is that it will allow nickel-zinc to compete with lithium-ion without the safety hazards in many applications. “I initially joined ZAF as a technical advisor to conduct due diligence on the NiZn technology for projects I was working on” said Dr Salloux. “After working with the technology development team, I saw an opportunity to introduce this innovative electrode process to drive improved cycle life. We rapidly validated the performance and I saw an opportunity to impact the telecommunication, data centre and utility markets with NiZn batteries. This led to the discussions with the leadership team to join ZAF as the Chief Technology Officer. We are now in the process of moving this innovative technology out of the lab and into our Joplin production facility and expect to be delivering batteries in Q3 to key customer projects.” Kurt Salloux holds a Ph.D. in materials science/electrochemi | gizmohican

09/5/2019 10:11 | Good morning all. Yes the price of Nickel will start to climb soon. There has been under investment is small discovery miners in the past 10/11 years, this world surprises me at times, that is why we end up with commodity cycles. I am surprised that the road has not been sorted out yet for Kun Manie. Mad I have just got back from Cyprus. :o) O/T ORM on a lift today, been holding on to that one for quite some time but a seller kept selling for the last few months. I think news due there soon. NAI and please DYOR | callmebwana

09/5/2019 09:23 | Yes Giz,Good piece there. I would correct one line in particular though.. "That, in turn, WILL cause their prices to rise sharply." They had better start pumping money into getting the minerals needed out of the ground!! | nolosstillsell
09/5/2019 09:18 | Rising metals prices set to give electric car industry a shock Miles Costello May 8 2019, 12:01am, The Times Transport Technology Cars Asia China Salinas Grandes in Argentina is a source of lithium, but more supplies are wanted Drivers are being urged to buy clean, environmentally friendly electric cars, but fears are growing that the rush to go green is about to squeeze the supply of metals and minerals that have become vital to the automotive industry. The alarm was raised in Washington last week by Tesla, the electric car company run by Elon Musk, 47, the billionaire technology entrepreneur. Sarah Maryssael, its global supply manager for battery metals, warned a conference that after years of underinvestment in the mining industry, materials used to make the batteries that power electric vehicles could rapidly be in short supply. That, in turn, could cause their prices to rise sharply. | gizmohican

09/5/2019 07:37 | Last post...A company I am working with has just commissioned a huge piece work mapping out a supply chain plan for 20 years. One variable is the likely/possible changes to road transport. Believe me more ifs and buts than vision | madengland_
09/5/2019 07:35 | And why would they want to lead, there is no infrastructure to support the EV revolution yet | madengland_
09/5/2019 07:34 | It's cat and mouse at the moment. No one wants to lead, but everyone wants to be in a leadership position | madengland_
09/5/2019 07:32 | Giz thanks for sharing that. I am sat waiting for decent EVs at a fair price to hit the market.... the nickel supply chain is an issue and equally the battery market also needs consolidation IMO. When money flows into battery market we will see Nickel move is my bet | madengland_
09/5/2019 07:30 | CMB get yourself out to Cyprus my friend :-) | madengland_
09/5/2019 07:05 | above post posted today | gizmohican
08/5/2019 23:35 | Nothing to worry about here.Multiple reports saying car manufacturers are worried about Nickel supply.AMC are in the perfect position.London / the City hasn't woken up yet, when they realise this is going to China and they will miss out expect fireworks | crazytowner
08/5/2019 16:04 | Mad, thanks for your input. Silence is deafening for sure. I suppose if AMC is in a NDA then they can't really say a lot. I would have thought that they at least would have included the 2018 drilling figures in the PFS by now !! The TEO has to be applied for yet and if we go along the BFS route then that is 3 more years added. Yes,a partner could take AMC through to the BFS stage. I would hope that there is a straight T/O as none of us are getting any younger either. Like you say we will just have to wait for news. In the mean time let the deramp camp have their day. I am glad I don't have to read their tosh or filtered names, thanks to Tad. I suppose I am missing the sun and I have to put up with this weather here. ATB all. | callmebwana
08/5/2019 14:36 | Hi CMB, I was told by the company that Riverfort were happy to lend more but the choice was taken by AMC to borrow less to keep the BOD focussed. To me this means there is a hope of a partner coming in to help get this to BFS and could open up other funding options for the road etc. Time will tell. The silence is deafening at the moment. Frustrating to many LTH and clearly being used by the deramp camp and their unpleasant behaviour. Atb, | madengland_ |
