Sigh! We have some pretty clueless people out there, selling AMP now while Motif is soaring?! The opportunity to arbitrage is getting better and better by the minute, AMP stake in Motif along is worth more than AMPs Mcap!! Bonkers

The Great thing with AMP is you basically get 7 for the price of 1.. and if the court case is ultimately successful then this could 10-20 bag no problem, with Millions expected in compensation.

You need to understand the Specialised federal court of appeal, dealing chiefly with patent cases ruled in favour of DataTern (Amphion) in relation to jurisdiction, the verdict means the regional court will need to re-open the case and review as per the construct laid out by the federal court, this is very promising for DataTern and AMP and increases the likelihood of a successful outcome.

Check the link to see the CEO talking about the case

A placing is not AMP's normal approach, historically if they needed to raise funds they have used loan financing to avoid dilution, as they did last year:

Baldrick your talking rubbish, all brokers run placings thats one of thier jobs!
However if you read the last trading update, along with the fact that AMP have a 44% Stake in Motif means they have no need to raise funds, you obviously have your own agenda, just sit and watch from the sidelines as AMP begins to re-rate

Nice to be in from a v good price much earlier than the herd....this will be a good investment given its broad base.

One point is that when the post above was written in April, Motif had a share price in the mid twenties. Its now in the forties.

here is the post i was referring to.... i disagree about it potentially halving in value, as the MTFB holding means it is derisked from that.

AMP is basically an option on the success of the ongoing lawsuits held by DATATERN and elsewhere. The holdings in KMK, MTFB and their other partner companies are useful to have and could well be successful in their own right, but they are not the reason to hold AMP. You just need to trawl through news items, AMP reports, interviews by Richard Morgan etc to understand potentially how lucrative this could be to AMP. It is true that AMP's liabilities are significant but the current NAV should still in my opinion be in the region of 3p - 4p. The kicker is that the amortised value of the lawsuits held by Datatern are in the books for around $500k. Looking at the 2010 R&A it says...

"7 new licenses concluded in the second half bringing the total to 28 through December 2010
o Total revenue generated from licensing rose to US $15.5 million since inception"

My opinion is that if AMP is successful (and its a big IF) then their will be 5+ years of royalties, penalties, interest payments etc due for not just the companies who were clients in 2010 but for all the other businesses who have delayed paying royalties etc until the legal case is clear. So what price do you pay for AMP? For every $15m of licencing fee successfully received, this equates to about 6p per share. Clearly, legal fees, tax and other charges will need to be deducted but even assuming only half is left for AMP shareholders this amount could be substantial. As I said at the start, AMP should be seen as an option on the success of the ongoing lawsuits. If it fails you will probably see AMP halve in value or worse, but if it does succeed it could well be a 10 bagger+. I think the markets have significantly undervalued this share and personally am happy to take the risk that they are wrong. As always, this is no recommendation and DYOR.

Someone, the username fails me, posted on here about 150 posts back as to the reason why AMP could be huge. He/ She even stated that the MTFB holding could be small potatoes compared to everything else that AMP has.

Bearing in mind those on the MTFB thread think MTFB are going to be a 200m MC, then i think it puts it into perspective the post from the other week.

Depends on the award made but every million awarded will go straight on the bottom line. It could be transformational as the share price is not factoring in anything.

if they want to they can sell a bit of their 44% MTFB holding, which is currently valued at £14m if they needed cash. But not sure they do need any at the moment.
