Having sold at 131, I'm pleased to be back in for 5000 at 119.75p, been waiting for a pullback, great stock, this.

Old news of a positive nature from 8 December but not highlighted on here to my knowledge (mental note to keeping looking at the Amino website more often):

Quiet few days here. Hoping there is more upside in this yet

38% of Amino's sales are to the USA. The weaker pound should be a considerable help.

Earnings projections for Amo are 7.8p 11/14 and 8.2p 11/15 .with 40p cash that leaves them on 11x .Since there are positive comments ,upgrades and contract wins coming through it seems hasty to sell now when the shares should be re-rated IMHO .Im targeting 160p min.

Cheers hyper. I like the stock a lot ironically. I will certainly be back if the price drops. I have run my isas with the iron rule of selling any stock where the yield drops below 4%, this has worked out very well in recycling gains, although occasionally I have missed out on a further rise (Man Group the main one).

I appreciate your honesty and integrity RCTurner2 in revealing all, a decent capital gain pocketed pre Christmas, well done.

I won't be selling any of my holding here as I think is Amino is a cracking outfit with plenty more growth to come and still has a decent enough yield even at these levels.

All the best :-)

I have sold the shares I got at 80p, just to free up some cash really. Still hold 10500 shares.

Tip update by Simon Thompson on IC website today. He basically recommends running your profits despite the share price having already hit his year-end price target of 120p.

Interesting to note the 2 x 20k sells at 116p which have been absorbed by the MMs with no pause in the rise.

Happy with buy backs personally, more tax friendly and given 10% is removed at source even if its in an ISA you can get 10% more for your money

For what it is worth I raised the special divi on two occasions with the CEO and both times the answer was a no. Worth remembering too that the ability to win decent contracts with some major customers is underpinned by the large cash position and working capital.
Quite happy with the recent buy backs and a return to growth mode.

Hyper - Fully agree re special div. I believe that AMO CEO has previously intimated in an interview that they would be unlikely to return cash via special div. However recent evidence suggests that they are more open to buybacks which, as previously stated, I believe is far preferable in this case.

Actually you would be surprised at how management sometimes are interested in the opinions of small shareholders.

I discussed the dividend policy with the CEO of an AIM company and I was very surprised that he took on board what I said. I told him what I wanted from the final year dividend and he replied that he wanted to know what shareholders thought about an appropriate dividend policy. I said I wanted an above inflation increase in the final dividend and I considered dividends very important in the total return received from an investment.

Fair comment speedsgh, I entirely agree with your final paragraph, having said that I would be amazed if Amino decided to announce a special divi, just not their modus operandi imho.

Hyper - Not greedy at all. In fact if anything I always tend to err on the side of caution myself but just feel that 30% of mkt cap in cash is slightly excessive. The cash pile has been a large %age of mkt cap for quite a long time now so they have had plenty of opportunity to identify other uses for it. Surely using some of it (say 25% of cash pile) to fund further buybacks would be earnings enhancing + positive for all shareholders.

I am fully aware that the Amino board does not need my or anyone else's advice, nor would I seek to offer it to them. But what use are these BBs if we are not able to openly discuss things such as this with fellow investors?

I don't think the Amino Board need any advice from the likes of us, talk of doubling from here and return to shareholders seems a bit fanciful to me, steady away from here with a 'progressive dividend policy' will suit me down to the ground.

Less than two months ago I bought a load more at 78.5p, what more could you ask for?

It strikes me that some folk are getting a bit greedy, all in my honest opinion of course.

RCT - Yes, agree. Just feel that 30% of mkt cap in cash is too much of a buffer over an extended period. Last thing I would want is AMO to gear up but 30% cash is surely erring a bit far on the side of caution... [cue humungous recession which would perfectly justify such caution!] :o)

I know what you mean, but sometimes a good cash buffer can be a good policy. Even though it apparently provides a poor return to shareholders, it allows the company to be ready if they need it. They have already stated that the strength of the balance sheet has helped them win contracts. A good acquisition would be my choice. I have seen so many businesses gear up carelessly in good times who are then unable to deal with bad times. I would rather give up some of the short term profit for the longer term security. Shareholders here know where they are, if they prefer cash light debt heavy businesses, there are plenty to choose from!

RCT - Totally agree. My point is though that, whilst the cash pile is a nice comfort, it has been sitting around unused for a long time now. That is not an efficient use of capital. Either use at least some of it on an acquisition/other internal investment or return some of it to shareholders via special div/buyback, in this case buyback being the preferred course of action. Aimho.

Balance sheet strength is a good thing though as long as they use the money wisely. Dividends, buy backs, investment in new products, acquisitions all can add value. A good acquisition can be very good, especially if it is earnings enhancing and is for a growing business as the news on acquisitions tends to get the PR rolling.
