I've done the same as you, diamond, and got out at 198 and 195, but the chart does look good, and with any retracement I'll be back in! Good luck.

As a top class water play I tend to agree with sahara that Amiad is still undervalued in spite of the hefty two day rise. I can see the price running towards the £2.50 price range by the time the results are announced on 26 March.

It is tempting to take profits up here, if only I had last time.

I am quite happy to hold these for a while yet though, I don't think the value of this company has been fully appreciated and think it has much, much further to go. Fingers X'd.

Huntie2,

I'm out at 198p. This is surely an unsustainable rise without news and I expect it to drop back from here. If I'm wrong that's tough but I've got a 22% profit since last Friday. I'm very happy for now and may get back in later. Good luck.

did the same as you diamond via the same source, my favorite of all financial reads, bought 1000 @ 160 and 1000 @ 170......wonder if they will continue their upward path? Can't really imagine Friday's rise was purely down to a tiny mention in Moneyweek unless there is a real stock shortage.

Please someone help me to understand the 850,000 ( sterling or dollars?) charge that Skyracer refered to on 28.09.07. I cannot see any outstanding charges of this magnitude.

turning up a bit better now ?

I rebought recently on the return to the 150p level, this is the second go at lifting off from there, and north of 160p it is back into steeper retracement territory; currently 157/161, a few buyers about

Celeritas - thanks for that

long again, 162p;

on 29jun07, Atorka Group upped to 20.46% (after the AGM on 26jun reported an improved situation);
maybe they will be looking to add again (after recent fall back)

after 30aug07 interims, Panmure upped its target from 155 to 165p;
lets see what it thinks now
- after good trading stmt this morning, ahead of finals on 26mar08

"In its 2007 full year results the Company expects to report strong growth in
both revenues and profits although the continued rise in raw material costs and
increasing weakness of the US dollar are putting pressures on margins and
financial expenses. Revenues for the year ended 31 December 2007 are expected
to be above US $56 million, which represents an increase of at least 27 per
cent. compared with 2006 and is ahead of current market expectations."

today's bounce firming confirms the backtest of the 150p level

Quiet afternoon for me hence the posts.

Atorka on Amiad

Amiad is a leader in the international market for water filtration equipment and filters for, on the one hand, industrial and municipalities and, on the other, for irrigation. The Company sees a lot of opportunities in developing the product for new markets, like offshore drilling and ballast water filtration systems for ships. This market is expanding considerably, and the demand for clean water is likewise growing. Ever-more stringent demands in environmental affairs will tend to boost this growth in current and new markets over the years to come. Amiad is listed on the London Stock Exchange and Atorka has 22% holding.

Holding is now a touch over 23%

Mike, heres another bit of recent news, seems Amiad are into everything.

Amiad Introduces a New Electric Fertilizer Injector
Source: Amiad Filtration Systems Ltd.
Published Dec. 7, 2007

Amiad Filtration Systems has introduced an Electric Fertilizer Injector for use in a variety of systems. Across its application range of 0.01 to 2.64 gallons per minute (gpm), Amiad’s EFI (Electric Fertilizer Injector) is accurate down to a single cc, according to Jim Lauria, Amiad USA’s Vice President for Sales and Marketing at the company’s offices in Oxnard, CA.

“The EFI is a very ‘green’ machine, in keeping with our commitment to clean water and clean technology,” adds Lauria. “It can be powered by solar panels feeding 12-volt direct current, as well as by 110- or 220-volt AC power. It is extremely accurate, which allows users to fine-tune their fertilizer rates to precisely meet crop needs. And the EFI’s integrated computer protects the environment by preventing over-application and serving as a safeguard for the system. Today, it is more important than ever to be ‘green,’ and those environmentally friendly practices can save farmers a great deal of money as well.”

Lauria says the EFI may be linked to a main irrigation computer to deliver pre-set rates, controlled by an in-line water meter to adjust injection rates based on actual flows in the irrigation system, or operated in stand-alone mode through its integrated computer. “We have developed EFI to give the grower the greatest versatility possible,” he notes. “The unit is compatible with a wide range of irrigation systems, it can be programmed to deliver very precise rates of fertilizer, and it’s easy to calibrate and operate.”

The EFI computer features a built-in data logger that keeps precise fertilizer application records, and that can sound alarms if air is found in the line, electrical currents drop, pumps are overloaded or injectors are blocked. In addition to its alarm functions, the EFI unit can automatically release air from the system and immediately stops application if an irrigation controller fails.

The Amiad EFI operates at line pressures up to 87 psi (6 bar) and flow rates from 0.22 to 1.19 gpm (50 to 270 liters/hour). Its durable weather and chemical resistant housing ensures long service in the field.

I'm surprised no rns was issued given it's a large contract, will contact the company regarding this.

We all need clean water, the world population is growing and this fundamental need is becoming ever more important.
Amiad are involved worldwide with cleaning up water which will be a good driver for Amiad for many years. On top of this Amiad are involved in many other projects varying from oil and gas to food and beverage plus many other projects too many to list.

Atorka a taking a great interest with a share holding now up to 23% and growing, in fact i see no reason why Atorkas stake building will end here given that it holds 60% plus in some other companies.

Amiad awarded a large FPSO contract

12 December, 2007 Israel
In August 2007, Amiad Filtration Systems, via its subsidiary FCS in Singapore, has obtained a contract for the supply of a seawater injection filtration package onboard of a FPSO. Expected Installation date is mid. 2008. The package is designed for 80.000 BWPD and consists of a two stage filtration concepts based on the well proven Amiad EBS 15.000 automatic self-cleaning filters. The first stage with a 50 micron filtration degree will remove large particles and will protect the second stage which will remove all particles larger then 10 micron. The design philosophy is based on the successful similar installations onboard the FPSO Espoir and FPSO Gray Warrior.

Im out as well now. No doubt company is in a sweet spot and trading will likely be strong for a while yet. Markets are too choppy for my liking and its had a good run so decided to take the money and run. Good luck to those still holding.

Next stop on the chart is 200p. A close above here opens the way to 250p (the top of the May 2006 gap).

On a PE of 10 based on the interims, and top line growth of 25%. Very positive forward looking statement too. This could easily double from here.

thanks to Rivaldo on HYD thread for a couple of general articles on water issues:

- - - - - - -

rivaldo - 5 Dec'07 - 10:40 - 2012 of 2015

Meanwhile, in yesterday's Times an interesting article about the battle for water as a scarce resource. The ADB's investment in water projects in Asia is to double to $2 billion - HYD already have licencees in Japan and Korea:

"Mr Ban's comments were echoed by many of the other speakers at the water summit, who gathered in southwestern Japan to discuss a range of issues, including policies that might prevent the various aspects of an Asian water crisis deepening into armed conflict.

Yasuo Fukuda, the Japanese Prime Minister, vowed yesterday that water and climate change would be at the top of the agenda for the Group of Eight summit in Japan next summer."

"The Asia Development Bank, which was also represented at the Beppu summit, informed delegates that without rational water development and better management, the future social development of Asian developing countries would be seriously jeopardised. The president of the ADB, Haruhiko Kuroda, said that his bank now plans to double investment in Asian water projects to $2 billion per year, given the potential for conflict if water governance remains weak."

rivaldo - 9 Dec'07 - 23:15 - 2014 of 2015

From today's Observer FYI, another article about water being the new oil:

"In the City of London, there is a growing realisation that investing in water technology companies offers opportunities for savvy shareholders, and possibly for ethical investors. 'There is also an appetite from institutions for water-related investments - they know it's going to be big,' says Julian Sevaux, managing partner at Stanhope Capital.

Olivia Bowen, an independent financial adviser at the Gaeia Partnership, says: 'New climate change funds have recently come to market; some are well established, such as Impax's Environmental Markets Fund.'

GE and Dow Chemical are among big US companies diversifying into water services, while the UK-based Thames Water is expanding overseas.

But the crux of the problem remains: according to a report from Credit Suisse, annual world water use has risen sixfold during the past century, more than double the rate of population growth. By 2025, almost two-thirds of the global population will live in countries where water will be a scarce commodity. And that could lead to conflict, as United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon warned last week.

Asia looks vulnerable, with China planning to syphon off Tibet's water supply to make up for shortages in the parched north. Elsewhere, the Israel-Palestine conflict is at least partly about securing supplies from the River Jordan; similarly, water is a major feature of the strife in Sudan that has left Darfur devastated. When it comes to this most basic of commodities, the stakes could hardly be higher."
