Maudore was indeed taken over by RH:

In 2015 one of the companies subsidiaries went bankrupt:

Maudore itself went bankrupt in 2016:

If you check out the 5 year chart, you'll see that Rex's takeover was the perfect time to get out, the share price spiked and then tanked until the company eventually died.

The ousting of the board was a bitter affair, but I don't think it was based on any insider knowledge or secret handshakes. The management were doing very little bar collecting their salaries and Rex wanted to speed up the process. He tried and failed to make a return on his investment.

Anyone know when final results for 2016 are being published, you would have thought it was around now if AGM in early April?

correction: I used "complicity" somewhere above.
"Collusion" would have been a better fit.

charlieee - Absolutely correct. It was Capita who tracked it down. Otherwise we would still be sucking our thumbs.

Well, it looks as if the company itself investigated and updated the market: last time in June 2016, there was a proper disposal notification (and at the same time, an acquisition notice on PANR,where he had bought in just before it crashed).

The PANR gamble was not that clever, so it does not look as if he has a great inside track.

Obviously, he was in disposal mode between June and October 2016, as another 3.8m were sold in that period and 20.8m between Oct. and now.

On the earlier disposal, FIL was in acquisition mode and this time, River and Mercantile, so it looks as if he times his disposals to coincide with the arrival or increase by another ii: not the hallmark of a distressed seller, but he does seem to like causing trouble before the AGM.

So much good news over the last couple of weeks and the company is clearly doing all in its power to keep us updated: at least we now know why there has been selling pressure.

(I see ADVFN does not permit the second link attempted above. The following is accordingly extracted from information first displayed in 2012.)

QUOTE: Guys, it has come to my attention that Rex Harbour(11%) is a large shareholder of Amerisur. It seems his game plan is to build a large shareholding in companies before staging a coup and take the company over for a discounted price hence not giving other shareholders true value.

I post this RNS from Maoudore Minerals, a TSX listed gold miner who have consistently deliver good results...it is a scary read.

This is just a warning, the vultures are always in this market so I suggest the Amerisur management is made known of these tactics.

I am not a shareholder in AMER..sadly.. and there are sometimes two sides of the argument but legal advise has been taken on MAO and there is no question this stinks. His tactics seem to be to build shareholding in a number of vehicles and allies and then move in for the kill when he has gained enough equity to do so.

I post this in good will.

I am not implying that he is trying to do this with AMER but it certainly looks this way on MAO and he has used similar tactics before.

See MAO RNS below, also look at new RNS yesterday which give legal advise and opinion(link below for that) etc etc.

(The fourth-last sentence is the one that MAY provide a clue.)

He won't launch a bid, but he may be attempting to entice another party to do so.

If that's his short term plan then he must obviously think there is a greater potential value in AMER than us pi are lead to believe. Then it's up to we, as investors, to resist any such attempt. This company is worth much more than the 25p per share or so he would probably offer for it.

Meaning?

Ah I see what you're getting at. Force price low to launch a bid. Unconventional and expensive but maybe he's nuts.

It's a useful tool - in view of the decline - courtesy of another poster.
Under the sub-headings of "funds" and "institutions" we can track most of the nonsense.
River&Mercantile have been piling in and seem to have swept up most of the surplus to reach ~62m.

Reading other threads it doesn't seem a bad thing to be losing RH as a major SH
Maybe we will get another holding RNS regarding who has bought the shares.

Could someone fill me in with What's the story with Rex then. Has there been a failed attempt to impose board member in past or something?
Sorry I haven't been in here for long and my research didn't throw this Rex up

Trotts told you a week ago Rex was selling some of his holding. He has now finished so look for the share price to go up and up and up!

So Amerisur have done as many asked and found out who the seller is. The fact they have named Mr Harbour I guess means Clarke is up for the fight should that be what Harbour wants.

I guess because Harbour is a non-dom he can get away without reporting?
