17/9/2003 11:07 | i got in last week - chuffed so far...... | davidcod
17/9/2003 11:05 | tebear, yes. The ONLY requirement is to be holding when the share goes ex-div. There's some faffing around to be done claiming the dividend (it essentially gets sent to whoever buys your shares, I think) but that will all be handled by your broker. I've done this on several occasions without problems. | stewjames
17/9/2003 11:05 | those that bought in before must be feeling happy... before the ex-dividend date that is... | safman

17/9/2003 11:01 | The 740k trade was a T trade that had been worked earlier so probably was a buy given the price. Can never be 100% sure though. Can someone clarify one thing for me please..... if you were an existing holder of AMB, the record date for divi is 19th September. Can u sell today or tomorrow at the ex-divi price and still be entitled to divi on the 19th? Surely you can but not certain, would you still be regarded as a holder on the record date? TIA | tebear

17/9/2003 10:48 | Alot of buys are showing as sells - my 100,000 at 6.4p is showing as a sell so best to ignore this info on the screens. Must admit I hope the fall reduces more because I have never seen a big fall just because of the dividend payout even though it is great ,that's why I got in - still cheap I think - I expect at least 8p to sell today (then I can close this cookie off) Really glad I missed the dividend date as I couldn't have bought as many so cheap - thanks AMB!! | gumberr
17/9/2003 10:44 | suehelen think you mean sell ? | smartypants

17/9/2003 10:15 | YESTERDAY WAS THE LAST DATE YOU COULD BUY TO QUALIFY FOR THE DIVIDEND !! "Once a company has announced that it's to pay a dividend, which it normally does twice a year, the shares will be available to investors "cum dividend" or "with" dividend for about a week after the announcement. Investors who wish to buy the shares with this right to the dividend will have to do so before the ex-dividend date, the day on which the seller loses the right to the payment. The ex-dividend date is set by the company after it has announced its intention to pay a dividend to the London Stock Exchange. Because of the three-day rolling settlement system of the Exchange, this marks the end of the period when investors can buy the shares and still ensure that their name appears on the shareholders register in time for the record date two days later. Those buying the shares on the day before they go ex-div will be the last allowed on to the register to qualify. Payment of the dividend is usually within five or six weeks of the ex-dividend date. But the market should already have taken account of the payment. In theory anyway, the share price drops when the share goes ex-dividend, taking the dividend out of the share price as buyers will no longer be entitled to it. It is at this point that investors can choose to pick up the dividend or acquire a less expensive share. For shares with larger yields, the ex-dividend movement can be significant. " | martin036
17/9/2003 09:55 | Gumberr but for those that are buying for the divi we all stand to make money even if it goes to 0p we still getting 10p a share i'm just in for a small punt like i said something seems odd but then again i've seen it before.dyor imo and good luck too all. | kamlani
17/9/2003 09:55 | MY 100,000 not showing yet but that is even better as it is now 6.75p to buy - YE HA!!! what a great opportunity - glad I saw this today - good luck guys!! DYOR but a good jump is in the pipeline at DTC soon!! | gumberr
17/9/2003 09:55 | The 19th is the record date. Ex-div is always two days earlier (ie today). | stewjames
17/9/2003 09:46 | davidcod - it all sounds fishy to me but I think you are right but could it fall even further on the 19th when more people sell once they have the dividend? | gumberr
17/9/2003 09:44 | smartypants, not so smarty i'm afraid. ex-dividend is today. record date is 19th Sept. still a buy all the same :-) | davidcod
17/9/2003 09:42 | read the info 10p div payable to any holder on the registar on the 19th sept !!!!!!!! | smartypants
17/9/2003 09:42 | I am in 100,000 at 6.4p fingers crossed!! | gumberr
17/9/2003 09:37 | OK..that makes more sense ....why is it worth buying... have they left anything for shareholders... | safman
17/9/2003 09:37 | ex dividend is today. Anyone buying today does not get the 10p dividend. Asset value is in the region of 7p per share, but should the company seek a "reversal" and maintain the listing, there may be a little extra value. tiltonboy | tiltonboy |
