BUCK316 sums it up beautifully. Noone has lost anything by this deal, hang on and you will be rewarded by LUC, when AK6 comesinto production, probably quicker now that LUC can act independently:-

Am I missing something here. Surely if everyone thinks Lucara got a great deal buying out De Beers on the cheap and AFD on the cheap then I presume you think Lucara is a great company who has just taken over a world class mine. If that is so why is everyone so annoyed that they now hold Lucara shares. I could understand shareholders been very angry if they took our mine for 40p a share and went on to make a fortune in profit but they haven't taken our asset. We still own it, we just have a different company running it. I don't believe a word of rainfall's ranting about how rich he is. If that were true he would not have to sell his shares. This mine will be in production in 12 months so why would he sell if he did'nt have to. For someone who has professed to us for the last 9 years how great he is at investing.. having an unrealistic target of 2.00 has been his downfall.

It's better that all the sceptics leave now . Come completion we'll only be left with serious investors. Afterall current sells only line the mm's pockets. Luc's share price is everything.

IF (and it is a big if) the NSR payable by AFD on ALL of the diamond production from AK6 (not just AFD's share) was/is real then AFD was screwed and the only out was to have AK6 100% owned by someone. This may have resulted in AFD being "over a barrel".

Quite right Buck. No shares have been sold, cheap or otherwise.
What we have now is a risk-free, free-carry to production from 2 mines.

undecided- I really don't care what point RT has made.
The point is that the clause is there.
I never answered your question.?
Perhaps you don't understand my answers.
You don't know whether or not it was a 'forced sale', for starters.
Is it a fair bid? I have already made it clear that I personally don't think it is a good bid.I am waiting for the next one but if it doesn't materialise, I will hold my shares into production, anyway.

Mc. You said similar stuff when I reported that an all paper offer was being finalised and the deal was being valued at c60p.

There will be no counter offer. The deal has been wrapped up.

Mc RT has made the point that the break out clause was a formal thing.

Not going to labour the point but you never answered my question.

My opinion three scenarios.

1. Forced Sale - Lack of finance.

2. Sold too cheap - Our value of the mine.

3. Fair Value - Supplementary / Hidden Benefit.

Trouble from my end is

1. JT has managed a company that has ran out of options and has led us to the cul de sac of a forced sale.

2. Option 2 just does'nt make sense and would mean that JT had no business acumen which he obviously has.(University lecturer at UCD).

3. The fair value scenario contradicts all we have been led to believe but at this stage coupled with the need for renewed finance seems the most likely reason for sale.

I have therefore concluded that JT has negotiated a self interest deal which has hidden benefit to negotiating parties of AFD. If I am right no doubt it will come out in the fullness of time.

A break out clause exists in any takeover deal. It's a formal thing. It's no big deal.

Get it through your heads the deal is done. There wont be any other offer.

Mind you, I like this one:

Is that a quote from somewhere?

Some sublime quotes from the master clown Teemore :

"JT has as much chance of recommending an all share offer to holders as I have of jumping over the moon."

"I would not accept anything less than £2 as that is the figure that I think is at the very lower range of valuation."

"As I have said on many occasions I am not the slightest bit interested in any offers "

"They are not considering any paper except the paper"

"I assume and hope that Jt has no intention of selling for peanuts or indeed in recommending anything close to 60p."

"Quite adament that the content of what he is posting is rubbish"

"some rubbish being posted -all speculation and I hope that JT does not allow the company to be taken out for peanuts or paper!"
