Surfer, good post and that arrogant prat Mannion is typical of the delightfully out of touch leaders of the sinking ship called Ear Fungus. O'Leary would sort out the debris in AL toute suite.........

why would the pilots buy at 3.05? an extra couple of % in the hands of employees is barely relvant and if they succeed in thwarting the bid the share price will drop. who gives this type of advice.

O'leary will have to offer between 3.50 and 4 euro to capture this one.
2.80 is the opening gambit, sit tight and prepare for turbulence.
Dont forget your lifejacket,and whistle!

I took Mrs Liarspoker out for a meal last night.

Two guys at the table next to us were discussing Aer Lingus & Ryan Air. I think one of them was a reporter. Both were hoping to write the meal of as an expense anyway.

Factsonly . From what I gather Aer Lingus will lose their U.S. slots if taken over. Not 100% on this but heard it somewhere.

IMHO, I think it's still possible for AERL to be taken over, but only if it's by a different airline.

A.L. Pilots have bought 8.5m shares through Goodbodys at prices of up to 3.02 in their attempt to block Ryanair. Micko will not be able to take A.L. but no one else will either .

agree cashed in today at 297, don't see Ryanair getting over regulatory and political hurdles, and very surprised no mention of white knight/3rd party interest in the weekend press, think Willie Walsh at BA has enough on his plate to be interested right now.

Feel O'Leary got involved because it was far too cheap at 2.20 and this provided him with perfect opportunity to embarrass and poke some fun at the Government.

If share price kicks back down will probably get involved again, we''ll see

I can't see any second improved offer being above EUR 3.00, so I have sold in the market for just under that price. I'm happy with a super 33% return for a one-week investment, but will watch and may buy back if I see potentional for future gains.

Good luck to all.

Thanks wish you lot all the best

I bought this stock as a long term investment, but couldn't resist taking a quick profit. I bet I own these again soon.

I would like to buy some Aer Lingus shares but am not sure if I would be paying UK or Irish Stamp duty? I have a UK share dealing account. Please can anyone enlighten me?

So looking at what AL has said : its fairly valued at 2.22 - but 'significantly undervalued' at 2.80 !
Statement goes on to say 'take no action' ergo - I have just sold ! There is only one buyer in the market and risk/reward ratio is currently good. Great return for the week. Enjoy the turbulence.

Free float is 57% which could be problematic for Micko. He may have to offer a lot more for this
