09/7/2009 10:41 | Sinopec, Addax Sramble For Sao Tome Economic Zone Written by Ese Awhotu, Abuja Thursday, 09 July 2009 02:18 [AD]Oil giants Sinopec of China and Addax which are already involved in oil exploration in the Sao Tome/Nigeria Joint Development Zone (JDZ) , have expressed interest in the auction of oil exploration blocks in the country's exclusive economic zone. Reports emanating from Sao Tome and Principe yesterday revealed that starting from November, and for the first time, the country will open its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to oil explorers. Sao Tome and Principe's National Oil Agency (ANP), is seeking interested parties for an auction of oil exploration blocks in the country's exclusive economic areas expected to take place in November. If all deadlines are met, it is hoped that within two years, starting from November, it will be possible to determine whether or not there is oil available in the blocks of sufficient quality and quantity to warrant commercial exploration. Meanwhile the parliament of Sao Tome and Principe has unanimously approved the framework Law for Oil Operations and the Oil Tax Law. Macauhub reported that the Sao Tome government had been awaiting approval of the two laws to re-launch tenders for the oil blocks in the exclusive economic area of the archipelago, and the laws will now be sent for ratification by the President of the Republic. The framework Law on Oil Operations was introduced a little over six months ago to the National Assembly by the government of prime minister Rafael Branco and had been generally approved by the 4th Commission of the Sao Tome parliament. The director of the National Oil Agency said that the law was, "completely new, different," but that, "it also requires that public tenders be launched," despite opening up the possibility of, "there being direct negotiations in special cases." 29/6/2009 07:34 | Thanks Kinkell, that's put my mind at rest. | trint76
27/6/2009 21:48 | trint76 The cash will remain in your ISA and can be re-invested within the shelter of the ISA in qualifying investments. HTH | kinkell
27/6/2009 19:57 | Could anyone give a timescale to how long the deal will take to complete and the cash to appear in your trading account, presuming everything goes to plan ??? Thanks . | cambradjones
27/6/2009 19:16 | Thanks for the replies guys :) , I'll just see how it goes and see how it gets credited. Can always stick it in the ordinary share dealing account but would be nice to keep the benefits. I can't seem to find anything on the net but I'll carry on looking. Thread hijack over! ;) | trint76
27/6/2009 17:28 | trint, I think you will find the cash will be credited to your ISA account and the stock will be treated as sold. This will not affect your isa contribtion limit for the year - I think anyway. I don't think the cash will be sent as a cheque to your home. Does this help? Any other posters more positive? trint, DYOR this is not advice. | brancho |
