09/1/2014 17:22 | Ho hum, timing is everything.. | rathlindri
09/1/2014 15:16 | Hold ASHM as well. | philo124
09/1/2014 15:12 | Yes. Hope that proves the bottom for now. Still a bit bemused though given ASHM another play on emerging markets is up nicely today. But hey ho as long as it moves nicely higher over the next 12 months I suppose it doesn't matter. | its the oxman
09/1/2014 14:50 | Well, I'm in @ 452.27p. The tide seems to be turning | rathlindri
09/1/2014 14:15 | That's a 10% fall since just before the end of December. Quite a tanking! Glad I held off buying this morning. This must represent a great buying opportunity now surely?? Will look for an entry point if I can spot a sustained bounce... | rathlindri
09/1/2014 13:15 | Most recent targets I can find. Berenberg 555p, Cannacord 586p, RBC Capital 550p although others are lower or perhaps not yet updated for the deal. Just need emerging markets to pick up then. Thx. | its the oxman
09/1/2014 11:07 | Aberdeen often falls sharply when Asia & Emerging Markets are weak. Hang Seng closed -209.63 (-1%) Nikkei 225 closed - 241.12 (-1.5%) It's a high beta share too, so quite volatile generally and falls or rises faster than the wider market. In my view nothing to be alarmed about, this is a cracking company - just looked through the annual report for 2013 and the growth is seriously impressive! | m1das_touch
09/1/2014 10:21 | Does seem particularly weak for some reason. Anyone else hearing anything? | its the oxman
09/1/2014 09:37 | More sizeable top up today and hope we bounce. Certainly can be volatile this one. | its the oxman
08/1/2014 22:21 | Company website says AGM and first quarter interim managment statement on 16th? | rathlindri
08/1/2014 22:15 | 16/1 is just the AGM, not results. | m1das_touch
08/1/2014 21:51 | Thanks Phil, and others, for your views, interesting! | rathlindri
08/1/2014 21:43 | Next week I think. | philo124
08/1/2014 21:41 | Next results due soon....16/1...good report forecasted? | rathlindri
08/1/2014 19:24 | Me too. 1250 for SIPP. | philo124
08/1/2014 14:01 | Topped up a little today c.478p. Hoping for a push through 500p provided market levels hold up. Fingers crossed. | its the oxman
07/1/2014 12:46 | Canaccord 586p target. | philo124
04/1/2014 20:12 | The SWIP acquisition looks a great deal to me and transforms the AUM for a very reasonable price indeed. Sets Aberdeen on the right track to become a truly global asset manager. I also invest in a number of the Aberdeen investment trusts, all of which are very well run. | topvest
04/1/2014 08:52 | I've been holding a modest investment in Aberdeen for the past year and it is undoubtedly the most volatile share in my portfolio. It is also a share whose earnings consensus forecasts have not been wholly accurate and where fears of a BRIC meltdown appear to have been overdone. Looking through the above posts I was interested in the remark that Lloyds paid 7bn for SWIP in 1999. If it is now changing hands for little more than 15% of that figure there must be value in the acquisition. Looking at prospects for the share price I'm thinking about the overall value of the acquisition, the recent strength in sterling, an election in India in the Spring, unexciting Brokers forecasts for 2014, slightly dampened enthusiasm for the acquisition amongst the institutions and where the FTSE is likely to be heading this year. I'm in the top up camp but the question is when! | ygor706
02/1/2014 15:07 | I'm holding, having bought at 365p - great company in my view, very impressed by latest results, not least the 39% increase in the dividend. My only caution would be that Aberdeen, like most fund managers, can be volatile and tends to rise & fall faster than the wider market. Also they remain very reliant on Emerging Markets (but recent acquisition will help reduce that reliance over time), so any negative news from China / Asia (as in this morning) tends to lead to a markdown. Overall though I'm positive and happy to hold in my SIPP for growth and growing income. | m1das_touch
02/1/2014 14:29 | 600p by year end plus the div is my hope. Views anyone? | its the oxman
27/12/2013 14:45 | I'm considering making an investment in this for 2014.....would value any opinions positive or otherwise....? | rathlindri
13/12/2013 18:14 | Considering the £28M fine for Lloyds and their need to review all these sales of investment products, are we going to gain good volumes of future business from the Lloyds connection thru' SWIP? | huttonr
05/12/2013 06:40 | Two directors, Young and Richards, are reported as selling substantial holdings the day before the shares becoming XD . The dividend to be paid at end of January,10p, is less attractive to them tax wise I presume than the capital gain. | rabbrooks
04/12/2013 10:10 | Yes just picked that up. | steeplejack |
