31/10/2013 08:57 | depends on the number of share to be issued for it - it could go down initially I feel and perhaps that is why the price has fallen . I suspect some will be selling now and hoping to cover off lower on any placing. However I think it is a good deal for them to diversify away from emerging markets so the downrating it gets as being an merging mkts specialist should go and ultimately I am happy holding at a 4% yield at present. | felix99

24/10/2013 13:42 | According to the BBC Scottish Widows manage £145bn against Aberdeen's £209.6bn ADN market cap £5.4bn It has been suggested that a likely price would be between £400-500m LLoyds paid £7bn in 1999....... | sailastra
24/10/2013 13:07 | Some are some BB's which would have been buzzing after the sort of news we have had today.....Scottish Widows....does anybody have any thoughts.. | sailastra
18/10/2013 11:41 | China growth trend looking better this morning, maybe hit bottom a few months ago. May have to wait until the 2014 elections in India to see their economy rebound but confident it will and ADN's strategy should deliver good returns. | pearlfisher

02/9/2013 13:08 | No rocket science from Numis there - if the FTSE returns to its May high at 6800 then there's no obvious reason why ADN wouldn't return to its 480p at that time. Though in that case, a rough calculation suggests that such a round trip would confirm, rather scarily, that ADN's share price is currently geared some seven times to the FTSE100. | 40t
02/9/2013 12:16 | Numis 480p target. | philo124
28/8/2013 16:08 | As a geared play on the indices, you also need to believe we're not in a bear market. So, if you'd buy the index at these levels, ADN may be a good bet. However, despite IC repeating their tip last week, it would of course be a far better long term investment - due to being substantially de-risked - after a 20% plus drop in the markets, if you feel that's likely in the next year or two. | 40t
28/8/2013 12:43 | And funds.... | asmodeus
28/8/2013 12:32 | Volatility in some emerging markets is driving this price decline. Bad news for short term traders but good news for long term investors in my opinion. Now 30% below high earlier this year. Topped up this morning with another 10000 at 346. I have held ADN since before 2007 and the long term view has returned a very healthy profit together with a good dividend. You just need confidence. | pearlfisher
28/8/2013 12:24 | Interesting interview with Peter Elston ADN's Asia Strategist in The Times of India. hxxp://economictimes Particularly interested in the final question: Are you in no mood to reduce positions in Indian equities? Peter Elston: You are absolutely right. We are in no mood to reduce positions in Indian equities. With the benefit of hindsight, we might have reduced the rating a little bit more on the basis that we were getting noises from our companies that the growth pitch was changing. But then that was the case for other countries as well around the region. One always has to look at this in a relative context. We are still very bullish on India in the long term. India has a fantastic investment case. It is still pretty close to the very beginning of its growth trajectory. The GDP per capita is still very low. It has a vibrant democracy, which looks messy from the outside, but it is the most effective way of getting the politicians to do what is necessary at the end of the day. In the near-term, the politics will be a bit of a mess because we are a year away from the elections. Any changes or proposals that get put forward will be populist policies rather than policies that will improve India's long-term competitiveness. | pearlfisher
27/8/2013 17:06 | I would be a little concerned if it broke down through 340p; 349p would be good. | philo124
27/8/2013 15:58 | Thx. Holding fire here at present. Looking to buy nearer 340p if I can. ADN can be very weak sometimes on a down day. That said it may mean I miss the opportunity to buy altogether. | its the oxman |
