23/2/2011 19:05 | Discount passing 12%. At some point, nearer the fibonacci level, when investment pessimism is at its peak, I'll start buying. | glentimon
10/2/2011 08:39 | I've got 500p as the first fibonacci retracement, but since plenty of others know this and it's such a "well rounded" number, suspect it will reach resistance above this level. | glentimon
09/2/2011 08:38 | I'll be returning one day, but someone big must have decided to reduce their holding to cause this sudden fall. I'll wait until the turbulence settles, perhaps when the discount approaches 12% again. | glentimon
08/2/2011 15:59 | Decided to top-up with the widening discount. Can see this fund outperforming western markets in the medium term. | gorse
20/1/2011 16:26 | Happy to have sold now, been selling most of my investment trusts into strength. Been getting divergencies on some of my technical indicators, and have a sense this could be the "distribution phase", though wouldn't be too unhappy if we're entering a sideways trend. | glentimon
04/1/2011 14:24 | Sold the rest of our holding into this New Year enthusiasm, not one that's happy with ITs at near par to NAV. | glentimon
05/11/2010 07:22 | Happy to appear foolish, but I prefer to reap the double benefit of performance and narrowing of discount to NAV. That's why I moved the money to BRWM, CYN, BRSC, and DNDL, where there is a good prospect of narrowing of the discount in addition to performance benefits. AAS is going to have to rely on a continually rising NAV (which I'm still backing woith half-holding I have left). Of course you really need a handle on a reason to favour a particular trust, in the case of WPC (change of management structure early in the year), and MCP (hoping for piggyback benefit from their talented far east team), they have yet to produce the goods, and are being held back by Japan (patience needed). | glentimon
20/10/2010 11:13 | Just got ahead of itself, doesn't yet warrant the premium of the "big boys" when it offers a much lower yield. I halved my holding round about 643p, but still believe it's a trust for the future. | glentimon
20/10/2010 09:10 | Shafted today,just because of a little dividend? | trewsa

13/9/2010 10:10 | Looked at ABAA, thanks, but my current view is to focus on the smaller companies out East. I must admit that back in April when Mark Dampier (of Hargreaves Lansdown) started plugging Aberdeen Emerging Markets fund strongly, I suspected there would be a lot of "crossover" benefit to the Aberdeen Asian Sm Cos IT (shared management team/shared research etc - though I've no evidence of that), and I think progress since supports that view. | glentimon
08/9/2010 12:46 | Also ABAA from the same stable as AAS is worth a look and at a big discount to NAV | davebowler
08/9/2010 12:45 | | Aberdeen Asian Smaller 615.35p - Fully Diluted NAV including Income | davebowler
06/9/2010 11:36 | I'm in CYN too -a bargain in my view. | davebowler |
