10/2/2015 22:18 | I nearly bought Bioventix on the Plus market, and again when it joined AIM, tri... Sort of feeling I've missed the boat :-) I've a small holding in SRT, showing a tiny profit, but I'm not convinced it can withstand lower-priced competition and big competitors. Excellent, dedicated company, though, but it reminds me too much of Psion! I hope I'm wrong - the frighteningly knowledgeable folks on the Bulletin Board deserve it :-) apad | apad
10/2/2015 21:58 | Hi Apad good to see it's back to 140. I guess once it breaks through a 10k barrier it then bobs around under and over that mark before consistently moving away. I bought some Bioventix a while back at round 650 and have topped up a bit. I don't really like companies I don't understand. And I don't really understand Bioventix. But judging by the margins it's got a lot of pricing power, sales seem to be growing strongly and the market cap is small. And biotech seems a promising place to be just now. My intention is that it is a long term hold. You still holding SRT? That could get very interesting over the next few months. | trident5
10/2/2015 21:27 | Back to 140k rich (I must get a life). I guess the ex-growth story isn't going to drive the share price down enough to get a good buying opportunity. My Mum wants more :-) Did you ever look at Bioventix? apad | apad

01/2/2015 23:31 | Telegraph Jim Slater says Avoid ABC Have TEF instead says big jim In January stockbroker Peel Hunt recommended Telford Homes as one of their 17 top growth shares for 2015 with a target price of 420p. I bought a few more at 352p, having tipped them in August at 288p. The shares traded this week at 355p. | dlku
31/1/2015 10:42 | Slater in the Telegraph today - with any luck that should drive the share price down for those who are looking for an entry point. apad . .R Other Aim shares that are favourites of veteran IHT investors are Young & Co’s Brewery, Advanced Medical Solutions and Abcam. All three are good sound companies but it seems to me that their share prices are living on the memory of their excellent past growth. Nowadays their p/e ratios are in or around the 20s with only single-digit earnings growth forecast. They are not for me because the slightest upset in their earnings growth could cause a major setback in their shares. | apad
29/1/2015 12:57 | 350p nailed on chart I'm a supporter of ABC but realistically... £870m seems an awfully high valuation did broker downgrade after buying firefly - not expected to return a profit for 3 or 4 years | dlku
28/1/2015 13:05 | 350p looks nailed on that chart market nervous ahead of Fed | dlku

22/1/2015 17:24 | Abcam may well have it's ups and downs.... Look at the chart and it is mainly up. They do however have unique capability in a market which has long term grant funding... For me this is a safer bet in a downturn than gold but also okay generally. The fact that the bod take a view of future markets and invest in a company that they can add value to is positive. What may cost in the short term is wise in the long term. They could easily have made no progress by cutting overheads to a minimum in search of short term share price reward. The acquisition is further evidence of bod that understands the future market and can close a deal. Strip out currency and the growth is stunning. If you look forward then those currency trends may well reverse. | richscotsman

22/1/2015 09:17 | CW Singer said sell back in July, when the price was 360. I learned a long time ago that financial analysts know nothing about Big Pharma, let alone the likes of ABCAM. IC were saying sell AZN on the basis of pipeline for years, when I was buying between £18-£20 (so was the company). Now they are saying buy, on the basis of the pipeline, and I am selling at £47+ (could get caught out if Pfizer come back, but I believe that their aattention is elsewhere) I think that ABC is geometrically geared to its market place, and that terms like break-even are not relevant to an acquisition like Firefly. It's probably worth it for profile! I bet the management, years ago, on ABC. Tipsters like CR and analysts come and go. If they do drop to 360p again I shall bet the farm (and rich will increase as well) - my Mum will open her purse too. Six months or so later the tipsters will spring out of their boxes:-) apad | apad |
