Abbey set to fall to under £3.00. Bail out now before the crash in share price. Serious underlying problems to be announced soon.

All ashore thats goin' ashore - I'm staying on the Jolly Santa.

Price should recover once all the don't knows etc have left.Mind you, the closer we get to 12 Nov, the more difficult it will be to sell.

Subject to the shareholder vote:
If you hold ANL shares at the close of business on the 11 nov 04 you will receive 1 Santander share and the 31p div (to be paid on the 14 Dec 04 ?) for each ANL share.
ANL shares will be delisted on the 12 nov 04.

They are also promising free dealing for small shareholders.

The London listing will be a secondary one - IIRC they won't be included in the ftse100.

There are also mentions of having to file Spanish tax returns for any holders.

I could cut and paste an FT article if anyone is interested.

I thought Santander were going to list on the London market as well in order to appease the small investors who don't like holding foreign shares. Is this still the case ??

They should go up to near the bid price (590p ?). In the short term some of the fund managers who aren't allowed to own foreign shares will be selling and forcing the price down.

Going up strongly today with big buy orders showing on Level 2. Anyone know why? Is it seen as a cheap way to get Santander shares, ior rumours of another bidder.

Maybe the previous Management, prior to 2002, should put their hands up.
The present team have at least secured some value for shareholders; the previous so called management lost £1000,000,000 and more and simply walked away.
Makes me very angry and sad.

james ashton says Arnee stands to pocket 5.5m from deal
six other directors share 7.2m from options
those picked by santader to stay till end 05 get 75% retention bonus of thier salary banks & lawyers advising abbey/santander will split most of the deal costs at 122m printing offer document alone cost 9m

who are the real winners/losers?

Abbey National has been a great company over the years with many original initiatives creating better services and products and as a result great shareholder value.
So what went wrong 3 odd years ago??? I bet those who should accept responsibility are, as usual, sitting OK!!!!
Any one out there with more info or another view??
