Thank you pet lover. Pretty much what I had learnt from the frequency and passion of your posts over the last few weeks ;-) No offence meant, just stating the facts. No holding here yet but may join you on any weakness. Good fortune!

MQA said last year that they thought most if not all of the worlds music will be in MQA format by the spring of 2017.

So we are not going to have to wait years for news it's happening right now.

I am convinced in the next few weeks we will turn on the 6 o'clock news and the general public will for the first time hear the word MQA.

This from the MQA site.

MQA can be played on any audio device, whether that’s inside your home, your car, from your phone or anywhere else you might be – perfectly fitting into the way you listen to your music today. Without an MQA enabled product, the sound will be better than CD quality. To truly unlock the richness of MQA you’ll need a device or software with an MQA decoder. On playback of MQA content, the player indicates you are hearing exactly what the artist recorded and approved in the studio.

I can't help thinking that MQA is about to be adopted by Spotify as all music from the big three record companies will be supplied in that format.

If,as is the game plan, just one master file per is required it's make 100% sense for their to be 3 music pricing bands.

Existing, CD quality, and de coded true Hi Res.

I found some very good articles by searching - ' 7Digital music streaming '. Particularly ' The music streaming wars according to 7Digital '. An interview with Simon Cole and Ben Drury. There is a very clear explanation of what MQA is and how it works. It is mostly old news but very informative for anyone who may be new to 7Digital research.

Thanks. I am not looking for precise detail but an approx value to give an indication of net worth to the company. It is more common to have a number than not. But as you say non rns and probably low level early stage development with additional revenues muted until deliverables tested, accepted and integrated

The DTS news was RNS Non-Regulatory, and also to develop prototypes. So unlikely in itself to yield much. But very interesting that the company chose to release it (as Non-regs are not their style) - maybe there are some dots to join and conclusions/speculations to be drawn...

We are unlikely to be given precise detail on any contract values due to confidentiality clauses. You will find them in a lot of contracts and not just in the music/entertainment sector. Hope that helps you with any future investment decisions. The DTS contract will 'contribute to 2017 revenues' as stated in the announcement. My opinion and observation and I have no inside information.

So pl was this the 'big week' you mentioned? And was it related to 7dig?

Anyone want to have a go at quantifying the monetary benefit of the dts contract? (Doubt it very much as no info in the public domain). Maybe the cfo might read this and add transparency.

Need to help themselves and not rely on their unofficial cheerleader (although he is very good at it)

I also don't have an idea if 7Dig will have anything to do with Spotify only that MQA might be used by them.

If MQA is adopted across the board it can only help 7Dig.

If you look they mention CD quality.

That might be MQA without a de coder.

Then you have 3 price bands in the industry.

1/Spotify delivered as now poor quality

2/Spotify delivered CD quality ( MQA without a de coder)

3/ MQA HI RES NOT through mainstream Spotify, but for new services to very top end market

These are just my thoughts not facts.

If Spotify offer a hifi music tier then it's a game changer for the hi-res part of the market given the dominant market position they hold.
That said I'm not sure it's a given that they will use MQA - they have their own platform already so why would they want to use 7digital?

However I've always thought that if the 3 major labels were to make a success of MQA they would most likely need 1 platform that offers all of their music rather than several disparate platforms. The 3 major labels do each own approx 5% of spotify so perhaps they can lean on spotify to make them use MQA.
